Ok I’m starting to jump over into the game building and modeling area. Just got a copy of 3ds max 8 and am very excited to begin learning. I wanted to also learn exactly the way of going about things. I have read many articles and just seem to get more and more lost after every one. I want to create creatures and enviroments in 3ds max (That includes animations and such) and then what. I know I need a game engine (Looking at Quest) but I’m completely lost and it all falls down from their. I’ve heard using 3ds max 8 helps out alot in the gaming area b/c it’s heavily geared towards gaming and saves time. But I’m so freakin confused. Can I use it as a level builder and use the engine to program this RolePG. I’m so tired of searching and never finding any hard results. Also I’d like to include things like fog (as a means of clipping, or is it culling??) and shifting time, even water ripples. I’ve seen tuts on these but don’t know if they work or how they work in conjunction with making a game. Do these types of events have to be programed in the game. The game I wan’t to build is very similar to GTA San Andreass but I wan’t the world map to be about half the size and about 2x the detail. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
