tips for making studio lighting more interesting

#1

I’m using vray to render out a clients shot of a supplement bottle. Previously I used a cyc wall wth four area lights of differeing timperatrue and gi. The results look nice with some interesting colors and soft shadows but it feels borring. I was wondering if anyone had some tips for making my lighting and or renders more interesting.

Just pure bottle without any labels? I imagine you can do it 2 ways

Either way, I think you should get rid of those tiny annoying high lights and go for large reflections like the second ref. Reference is really important too. Reference, reference, reference.

If you want interest/mood, you need color and contrast.

Try a different approach. Area lights produce a soft diffused light which tends to flatten out objects in my opinion.
