Wow! hope to see this textured and lit…Nice Work!

#3

Thanks Travis. It’ll take a while but I’m working on it

#4

That’s nice modeling, but I think you overdid it

#5

Out of interest…why do you think he’s over done it?

#6

This is pretty badass!

You have my vote as well for a textured/lit version (in a space combat scene? )

#7

Looks amazing. The lighting really lifts it up, something a lot of people overlook when presenting models. I’d like to know which software you used for each particular task when creating this. I’m strictly a 3DS modeller but I just know there are some situations for which other tools would really speed things up.

#8

More complexity than is necessary, and that particular ship doesn’t lend itself to realistic space type of design, I imagine a million parts falling off as it takes off.

#9

Cool up-scaled design, must’ve taken a block of time out of your life  Got any plans to either animate or perhaps 3D print down the track?,

Cheers.

Pretty damn cool modelling job so far

Thanks for your feedback everyone - the comments and critique are much appreciated. I don’t have any plans for it beyond materials and textures and a nice big render.

Thanks a bunch Telemachus. I used Maya for most of the modelling, with zbrush+dynamesh for some booleaning.

#12

Seriously this is absolutely amazing. I am with Travis I look forward to seeing the textures on this thing. Great job.

Super rad!!!

#14

great !

I’d like to know which software you used for each particular task when creating this… too.

#15

Not if you work for ILM. :surprised

#16

How long did it take to make?

#17

Thanks everyone.

I used Maya for the majority of the modelling. A mix between boolean and subdivision. I used Zbrush a bit for some detail in the heat shield, as well as welding marks.

Honestly not sure CallofZON. It’s been an ongoing side project for a year or more. Initially it was made to be accurate to the movie prop, but then I thought it would be fun to turn it into a satellite.

#18

This is excellent… just excellent.

Ain’t no BS Greeble there  Amazing David just Amazing
