Hi there, my name is Sean, and attached are my flag and reference boards for my Jellyfish-inspired Mothership Concept. I chose to echo one of my favorite reference photos in my flag to represent humans who are traveling through the uncharted deeps of space, like a jelly traverses the depths of our oceans. I am thinking I will depart from the normally “grim dark” images I work on, and try to keep this one bright and colorful.
My idea is that a massive human ship is floating from world to world – some habitable, some purely mineral dense – and is extracting resources and depositing colonists. The ship will be composed of several major sections – habitation domes, reactors and propulsion, and a massive worm-hole generator.
I like the asymmetrical dome of the Portuguese Man-of-War jellyfish; this is the inspiration of my superstructure. I have done a few sketches and paint-overs that I’ll post in the near future.
