Thinking of buying Vue 6

#2

You won’t be able to import your Maya animation in Vue6 Infinite. You should get Vue 6 xStream for this. GeoControl terrains can be imported in Vue6 if you export them in tga format from Geocontrol, 16bit targa being best.

Basically anything can be populated with ecosystems, a terrain, a plant, a plane or a cube, and yes, imported objects as well.

Yes you can import your terrain and plant ecosystems on it.

I’m thinking of buying as well.
On their website, their personal learning edition says it never expires
but i had read from somewhere that the software expires in 60 days…
Do you guys know which is true?

#5

There are 2 free versions:

The demo, that lasts 60 days and has limitations (max render size, and animation length),
and the PLE tat doesn’t expire, has no limitations, but has watermarks after 30 days.

#6

OK…thanks Bruno.

#7

the ple version has watermarks from day 1…ie there’s ALWAYS watermarks on renders.

#8

Renders between days 01 and 30 have the Vue logo on the lower right corner, after 30 ays of use, there are semi-transparent watermarks on all parts of the render.

#9

not on the ple version i downloaded this last weekend…lower right and all over watermarks from day one…btw i have bought and installed vue5 infinate on the same system if that makes any difference [freeby with lightwave upgrade ages back]

still i’m not too bothered as i’m just testingit out to see if it’s worth upgrading to or not

mainly looking at the animation curve editor as V5 is irritating plus general getting aroundf and setting up in the viewport as it can now behave like my main apps to a degree like 3dsmax and lightwave for shortcuts etc.

it’s not looking too bad so far.

#10

Strange you have watermarks since day1.

Animation curves have changed a lot in Vue6, for the better.
Vue 6 can also be made to look & feel like Max, but I suppose you alraedy know this.

#11

yeah it’s a much better prospect than vue 5inf which was really annoying me and i actually stopped using it and gave my scene to a friend to animate the camera as he has vue 6… the general workflow in vue 5 and the not so clever animation tools have been updated for 6…

vue 6 is looking pretty good…

i need to also look into the extreem version as i have max and to see if it’s really worth the extra cash or not for my needs.

I Downloaded PLE for Win XP 32-bit, and it had no watermark (except the one in lower right corner). Then i bought a new computer with Vista 64-bit and downloaded the PLE again, and now i had watermarks all over at first render. I booted up my old Win XP box again just to see if i missed it before, but there where still no watermark on the old box (except the one in the lower right corner).

So either they have changed the PLE version since my previous download, or it’s different for 64-bit or Vista versions of PLE.

I’m saving up to buy soon anyway so…

I hope i can alternate the license on two computers since my new Vista box have unstable OpenGL drivers. I get jerky movements and sometimes artifacts in the views both in Vue PLE and Cinema 4D 10.2.

When i modeling details the artifacts and jerky movement gets really annoying and i usually move over to my old XP box.

I really hate nVidias OpenGL drivers. Over a year since Vista release and they still not got it right. Direct X in games works fine though (at least the ones i tried so far).

#13

Those Nvidia/Vista problems are really annoying. I have jerky rotate/move problems in Vue, and ghost artifacts when selecting points or polygons in Cinema4D.

Wonder how AMD cards are doing on Vista.

Don’t know if this would help anyone, but e-on is having a sale on Esprit for anyone who owns Poser 7. You can buy Esprit for $99. You can then use it to upgrade if you want and in the end it will save you about $100. This is of course, if you have Poser 7…

#15

Were you rendering both images at the same resolution? I noticed that images under either 800x600 or 1024x768 (don’t remember which) only have the logo on the bottom right, but once you render at a higher resolution it displays watermarks over the entire image.

#16

AmericanXer0: Yes! On my Vista x64 it render with watermarks no matter what resolution (160x120 to highest). On my old Win XP 32-bit i can render from lowest to 800x600 with no watermark, but above 800x600 i get watermark there too.

Wouldn’t hold your breath there Bruno, I am running Vista Home, ATI Radeon x1950 pro and a Athlon 64 X2 6000+,3GB Ram.

Moving anything results in a jerky movement, often you have to guess where the object will end up, doing a preview render within the Vue camera window results in a multi-coloured split image, and as mentioned in another post on Renderosity I also have the problem of object dissapearing when selecting another object, the other object returns once you have deseleted your current object.

i´m glad im not having the same kind of issues as you guys, in fact vue6i runs as smooth on our vista rigs as it does on our xp pro rigs (nvidia gpus in all of them). what drivers are you guys running and make sure your vista version is up to date, must be another issue then just vue being used on a nvidia/vista combo or amd/vista.

amd cpu´s in all our rigs.

Hehe, I am an update freak, everything is updated from the system to the games, though in case your interested, I have Catalyst 8.2 drivers and the latest 430 revision from Nvidia for my motherboard.

Latest 6.6 update from E-on. I have contacted tech support about the issue and sent screenshots and a file but they say they can’t re-create the issue. So will have to live with it for now, I am sure its down to OpenGL though.

Same here, running all latest software updates for Vue, Cinema and available Nvidia drivers. But the problem with Nvidia drivers is that it is a laptop, with a specially designed Geforce 8600 GT. I can’t update the drivers through NVidia, the answer I get is that my card was specially designed for laptops, and I should update from my laptop’s manufacturer, Samsung in my case. And they have no update for me.
