The Sideshow- character - giantrobot

#18

some small tweaks:
Less buggy eyes
smoother around eye sockets
smoother belly
more detailed weiner
more work done on shoulder

Movin’ along quite well. My suggestion is that you flatten out the feet more like a frog. They would complement the hands better too.

I checked out your website and saw that screenshot of “Karaoke Revolution”. I looks suspiciously like the screenshot of “American Idol” I saw in my Game Informer mag a few issues back. Were there legal issues or “no comment”?

thanks for the tip, i havent really gotten to play soul calibur 2 much… actualy just plyed it twice or so… Anyway, about your character… going great so far, but dont u think a game character with a weiner is something of a controversy? Plus it might save some polys toward the end… Unless youre going to change that after giving him some clothes though, in which case ill just shut up…

this guy is comin along great! Love the buggy eyes!

Dont know what you mean by legal issues. Both games are pretty similar in content I guess, so I can see how similarities arise. Isnt american idol toon shaded? Also, the Karoke Revolution game actually uses a Microphone as a controller rather than button presses

The again, I saw that game with the woman with the weapons recently and it looked like that other game with the woman with the weapons…y’know?

Heh…yeah, I dont know. When I started I really wanted him nude because I thought that he seemed more vulnerable. The clothes water it down. I am going to try a few things though. As far as the willy, this model will never be in a real game…so no need to worry about silly nudity censorship issues, right?

DANG!

I misread the rules and my guy is just under 5000 polys. I just re-read and saw it is 4000!

oh well…time to prune.

I am now down to 3912 triangles. I want to use the full 4000…anyone see any places that they think could use a few more tris?

#25

hmmmn… possibly remove those 2 edge loops down the centre (the ones on each side of the centre edge loop) of the model. Thise could free up a whole lot.

The fingers coould be optimised better…

#26

MINDROT: yeah, the hands are pretty gross…i am going to fix them. that is where all of the polys were that I cut. then i realized that i had a hidden object that was no longer needed. once i deleted it, suddenly i had planty of polys.

I will probably fix up the hands and then add polys back to a few areas.

I want to keep the 2 loops on the back, because in decent lighting they look really good. nice back muscles.

 sweet man… keep posting

I like the model, its lookin good… but every time I see it, I wish it lost its ‘manhood’. Its truthfully un-needed and really takes away from the model. Just my opinion though.

#29

oh man…not sure I will finish on time :frowning:

here is an update…just blocking in some color.

#30

hehe… looking good man… is that stubble. nice addition if it is

Hope you make it in time!!!

#31

yup, stubble. I kinda wanted him to be pretty creepy and gross…but cartoony.

The whole do-it-in-the-car thing turned out to be really slow. Now I have less than a day to finish texturing, rig, pose and render. :surprised

~edit~

ok, I switched to my home PC to try and get this done in time. Here is a mapping update. I think I decided to go with weird realistically painted maps on his obviously non-realistic shape. Seems funny to me. While fixing the fingers and toes, I am starting to realize i burned some polys in the neck folds that i should have put in the hands and feet. oh well

#32

 hehe this guy is sooo cool… those eyes, thoses eyes

I love that stomach hair…

Good luck man

#33

phew.
Ok, so it is not perfect…but I ran out of time. The commute thing made it rough, but…FINITO!

Although I said I would not do time-period clothing, I decided to do a render with a Bill the Butcher type, turn-o-the-century Gentlemen’s Top hat. I will be uploading the maps and new renders and wires just for fun in the next day or two.

Good luck everyone! This was great. Can’t wait 'til the next one.

Hey!! Way to turn out a character
I honestly didn’t think you would finish, he turned out great too. It really captures the essence of the original drawing nicely
Nice work

#35

Great character, very original. I like the pose as well! I think with the hat on he has even more personality.

#36

heh heh…thanks. I really ran out of time, but I hope to give him some facial morphs as well so that he can really emote

#37

This came out really cool in the end. Looks totally crazy!!

You should have given him these big veiny balls!!

Cheers
