The Side Show - Crazy Damo

#1

This is a first challenge for me so I thought I would start with something that freaked me out as a kid. The kinda guy who would normally wear a suit and tie, but because of a simple deformity ends up with the circus freak show. Considering the time period, thought I would chuck him in a loin cloth and possibly behind bars…not ferocious … 'cause of his apathy “… rar… rar” (ala simpsons).

Its not a cop out… its actually going to be quite hard to make him look this emaciated
cheers.

Tailed Man

I like your style a lot. And also the fairly modest freakyness - looking forward to this!

Cheers JamesMK. Have started modelling. This is the first op. Iv’e had to do my own work in a while. It feels odd, kind of like streatching after being asleep too long.

OMG!!! u r so kewl!!!

Sorry…don’t know what happened there. Nice sketch dude. Let’s see you back it up with some 3D. slaps Damo with glove

Challenge down…

Oh… yeah… Its ON man, ITS ON!.. leaving the office now.

But before I go …heres some updates. Just the low poly versions, want to try my hand at some Z-Brush.

#7

and some more…

another

and the last…

ok this was my fisrt go with this tool. And I must say I like it … Still have to get used to the weird interface. I was dying to give it a go so this is just a test. I’ll finish the model to a higher degree in Maya and have another go at it in Z-brush later. But for now I’m happy I bought it.

…just out of curiosity … anyone know how to smooth the verts (like maya artisan smooth) in z-brush. Just pulling and pushing can cause some nasty bumps.

#11

and another view…

#12

Hmm… yeah… interesting. Looks z-brushed indeed!

#13

ok … ok… Its pixolated and bumpy to all hell, but its a start. Will make a better throw at it once the model is more finished. Hands, Head and feet to be next.

Nice! I like your sketch and the model is also coming nicely.

I just watched the “Ginger Snaps” movie and the tail of the Ginger was sooo freaky! Your model reminds me of that

The movie is about two sisters and the other gets bitten by werewolf.

#15

tried to go for that Dickens/Fagen look. Try for some knarled teeth as well.

#16

Looks great! I do envy your drawing skills…

BTW, about that Z-brush stuff, I hope I didn’t sound too negative. It’s just that there’s an unmistakable “look” to quick z-brush treatments… That’s all…

#17

Thanks for that:thumbsup: . No worries about the z-brush. I know what you mean… I hope that after some messing around time I can figure a way around that pixolated look. Heres a front view of the head that I just whipped up. Not so sure about his look just yet.

#18

Front vierw kind of looks like Jack nicholson.:stuck_out_tongue: Cool drawing however.
