The planning of a Halloween costume – help?

#133

I dread to see your bath after you get all that off!

Now do Christmas! :applause:

#134

Haha you are awesome  I wish I looked half as good in my make up hehe. It didn’t turn out the way we hoped so next year I’ll try it again with some expert help  I wish I had been there… Party on my end was so-so

Now go take a bath and a long rest and then start sketcing on next years costume

#135

Whoa! Kick ass. :buttrock: Was not expecting it to look like that, but I love it! I’m so glad you had a good time. You certainly earned it. <3 I can’t decide how you look… evil and sinister yet refined and elegant, but the helmet still reminds me of something warlike. It’s a lovely effect… very ambiguous. You looks frightening and alluring at the same time.

Your face looks so neat. Amazing makeup job; I’m so impressed with the level of detailing. Especially that little trail of glitter over your cheek. Why I find it so cool, I’m not sure. o.o

Wonderful job. <3 Thanks so much for sharing your progress with us. :]

#136

That’s seriously intense, Linda. I’d have preferred you as a beautiful wood nymph or a forest fairy, but this is damn awesome.

#137

Gees you turned out great!

Such a tasteful whole! I love it. Love how you 've followed the contours of your face, like the scales going up to your ears. _ And the horns going up backwards.

Truelly great stuff. All the bumps and nooks and folds h-whohw, and the jewellry alltogether. I’m almost inclined to agree with Kyena, it’s insane, lol. But so beautiful. Stunning! You always make the place that much more interesting! :scream:

I’m gonna be making sulk paintings for weeks. “We don’t have anything here, nah-hah-haa!”

#138

wow Linda! Magnificant! What did your friends at the party think of your design? I bet they loved it!

Great work!

#139

Thank you so much  I’m preeningly happy that you like the costume!

It was insane yesterday. I actually had people bowing to me as I passed them by - I was treated like royalty, ha ha. I think I had about a hundred times as much fun as I’ve had any other halloween… and this even when I could hardly dance in the costume. The collar and the horns forced me to keep my neck pretty rigid and my head high at all times - I suppose in a rather regal pose (what people kept telling me anyway).

Weirdest thing? Guys were hitting on me! What the hell?! The way I looked, I wouldn’t have touched me with a stick o.O

I’m so tired. Sooo worn out. I’ll go take another bath, see if I can get the last of the glue out of my hair.

I’ve been following this thread all the way through, and would just like to say what an awesome job you did on your costume.

I eagerly awaited and was thoroughly impressed.

Looking forward to next haloween

Hope all is well and good luck getting the glue out!

#141

Sounds like you had a great time at the party and all of your hard work paid off handsomely.

I love the costume and makeup design. It has an eerie elegance that reminds me of creature designs from Ridley Scott’s film Legend (a film that I recommend you see if you haven’t already). Or even reminiscent of the ballroom sequence in Labyrinth.

As for the guys hitting on you … I can only suggest that it had something to do with those intense eyes of yours. If you had some cosmetic contact lenses to wear you may have scared a few away.

What are you going to do next year to top this one? I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

rock’n’roll

wow… just wow! i was quietly lurking about this thread before halloween. but, that is one of the most incredibly designed and created costumes i have ever seen. you put so much work and imagination into this costume, very few people these days do that I think, and put it together from scratch. Absolutely incredible, just thought I’d come out of lurking to comment.
You definitely look like a very regal demon queen, elegant but not fragile, both graceful and deadly. And most of all, you take pride in your work, and so you should. Thank you for sharing the design and process with us, and the final images of course! I can’t see anyone else wearing this costume but you.

once again, amazing.

#144

Not how I expected it either but the result is still really wicked cool.

#145

Well, I’m definately impressed! Glad you had a great time and were treated like royalty!

I know it’s all over with, but I hope you won’t mind a couple of comments. I loved the collar when you wore it alone. I thought its graceful curves and dangles framed your head perfectly. Unfortunately, with all the other stuff on your head it gets lost. Since you head got bigger from the appliances, perhaps the collar should have been made bigger (I mean the cured parts should be longer) so that it had the same dramatic effect.

My expectation was that you were going to seamlessly integrate the skull cap into the rest of your face. Instead, it looks more like a helmet. I like the seam at the back, since it looks vaguely like the natural cracks in a person’s skull, and the overhang over the eyes and nose seems fine. So I guess my only problem is the temple/over the ear part, which seems quite thick. Perhaps if the helmet part had molded scales into the edges so you could overlap scales stuck to your face, it would allow for better integration.

Well, excellent result! Amazing makeup job! :applause:

#146

Yeah, it reminds me of that too…

Cool costume anyway, glad you had fun with it.

Hmm, I wish I could comment on the costume, was waiting to see the final piece for weeks now. Unfortunately your site, Enayla, is as I just discovered blocked by our proxy at work so I’ll have to wait 'till the evening… Just thought you might find it exhilaratory to hear the reason: furiae.com is classified as “nudity” by our internet security dumb… err… administrators :banghead: . I guess it’s about damn time to remove all the porn content from your website then, huh??

P.S. - By the way, www.cgtalk.com is also blocked by our proxy, I wonder how long it will take for the guys here to realize the board has moved to forums.cgsociety.org before they cut me off :D.

#148

Heh, Furiae is blocked at college aswell, I wanted to show my professor some of Linda’s stuff, and it flashed up “Blocked - nudity”…so embarrassing haha because everyone seemed to think it meant porn or something…

#149

Your costume is so awesome, Linda! :surprised: It simply rocks. I guess I’d have touched you too, but just to see if you were real.

#150

Linda,

Congrats on an awesome costume! You look in the pictures like you stepped out of a masterpiece…
It’s a little like you’re one of those costumed ball dancers from Labyrinth, except of course your end result is much better. :applause:

#151

Finally home!

@Elsie:
Seems I’m not the only one with this problem, weird! And yes, it was embarassing for me, too, haha.

Weirdest thing? Guys were hitting on me! What the hell?! The way I looked, I wouldn’t have touched me with a stick o.O

Well, I am not surprised, not at all. You look damn sexy and if I were there I would definitely take a chance and hit on you, too, haha. In fact, if all demons in Hell look like this then I don’t mind going straight to Hell when it’s my turn to cross the Styx, haha (well, who wants to go to Heaven anyway :stuck_out_tongue: ). Well, hot, very hot… Makes me wanna wear a costume at Halloween myself, but as I know me I would get it wrecked and torn apart before the end of the night, so the work would be wasted on me :D.

#152

Yeah, I know there’s some stuff I could have done better - in retrospect… I’m still very happy with how it turned out, though. The fact that the ‘helmet’ part of the costume ended up looking like a helmet wasn’t intentional, and I wish it hadn’t, but I don’t think the front part of it would have held up the weight if it wasn’t as thick as it was.

I’ll learn new techniques for next year  I’m already trying to think of a new theme, haha! Feel free to help me out. And no, I won’t go as a cutsey fairy, a mermaid or anything that’s darling and doll. I’d go as a devil, but this year’s costume is a bit too close to that. Ah well, I’ve got an entire year to plan…

Thank you so much everyone - the costume was hard work and fun, and I’m thrilled to hear that you all seem to have liked the outcome.

As for my page being blocked from some places - what the hell? o.O I wonder how that can be. There’s pretty much no nudity on my webpage. Weird.
