The Passenger - short film released!

Man that was just awesome!!! Idea, animation, lighting, directing, music and etc was just as perfect as it could be. All my respect to you   Seriouslly I think you should be a top example for every artist that thinks of doing something of his own. It just gave me strong motivation to go on on my own short. Keep up the good work, I’m actually starting to wait for what will you come up next.

Congratulations!

Cheers!

Wow! I mean, WOW!

#103

Absolutly briliant! I always wondered how the short looked, after seeing your website a couple of years ago. I loved it!
I already ordered the DVD, can’t wait to see the ‘behind the scenes’.

The Passenger is a great animated short! I’m glad the animator did not give up after all that time.

#105

Just pure genius. Design, direction, animating, music all perfect.

I am wordless.

I've got an idea it might be too old for Siggraph now - I seem to recall there being an age limit of a couple of years or something. It was actually in Siggraph Asia last year by the way (albeit shuffled into the "Australian Panorama").
One P4 2.8GHz with EWQLSO Platinum. I was an early Platinum adopter - would have gone with Gold though had I known they were going to release it a few months later. I won an upgrade to Platinum Pro later on though so I suppose we can call it even. ;)

Playback did get a bit choppy after 40 or so tracks, so I limited myself to that when composing. Then I offloaded everything but the string section and added all the articulations etc (bringing the track count back up again), bounced it to audio, brought the woodwinds back in to add articulations, bounced it, etc etc. Then I had to repeat with close and surround mics for surround mixing.

Tedious, but I preferred that to loading templates over multiple PCs and getting them to talk midi to each other. I like having everything on one PC, nice and compact.

[color=white] As long as you don't get caught in an inescapable perfectionism loop... like I did... you should be right. ;)

I might have to fire up the calculator and get back to you on that one…

            Thanks again (again) everyone,

OMG! I released our rather sickly goldfish into the river Thames… just next to Dave Gilmore’s floating music studio! I hope he’s okay! (Dave. Not the fish) :scream:

Absolutely amazing work on all aspects of your short, Chris! I really hope that this brings you the rewards that 8 years of dedicated perfectionism deserve and I hope that you don’t have to move for a long while. Top job!

Inspirational stuff. Really impressive.

Congratulations on a well executed short.

It was particularly interesting reading about your struggles along the way. Especially surprising were the struggles to find the right music (I can certainly emphasize with this, especially the bit about stuff sounding great when composing it but crap a day later), given that it was one of the areas I was most impressed on when watching it.

#112

All those years worth it. You should get an Oscar

#113

Incredible work, I don’t think there’s many people around with this kind of dedication.

#114

That is an awesome movie, I would hire you for my company. Although I am just learning cg and animation…
