Hey Verdell, nice to come and have a browse through this thread again, thanks for your comments on my own. Your master copies have definitely got stronger, the last couple, even the beginnings of the Leighton one, are looking great. And man, you’ve got me wanting to draw Mugen now… he’s such an awesome character, from an awesome show, nice job on the action, it defintely suits him! And the boy on the character sheet has a nifty pose too, caught my eye!
Keep up the great work!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been practicing in illustrator and i had to redo my operating system. I will try to update more often.
Normally i would do this in photoshop but i felt like using painter for a change.
My latest speed paint. Total time 40mins. I may do another version of this.
Done from a reference photo of a model…Done in painter9

I am a bit rusty from not painting in a while.
This is an unfinished speed paint done in photoshop7
I have to get my swagger back…

HEY…Pushav…
You might want to be leary of falling into a fad, like speed painting, they are usually short lived, just like in the music world…gets to the point with them, where everyones stuff starts looking and sounding the same.
I have seen over a short period of time on this forum, a trend that is leading to a massive amount of unfinished ,unpolished works done in the name and for the sake of speed.
Has gotten to the point, where you can’t tell if a clear layer was put on top of a master work, photo or whatever, and then just traced, and abtracted using speedy colorful brushstrokes.
This is not the case in your case, i’m sure but is worth mentioning none the less, because when imatation of style becomes the goal, individual style becomes extinct.
Expertice, ends up being substituted with abstraction…a condition that has led from clssical painting being rejected, and replaced by pure white canvases with nothing on them except hype, that sell for a million dollars.
Remindes me of a child who says…it’s just too hard, so I will just paint the way I want to, skip the hard part, and call it beautiful and finished, so that I can hurry to the next one, and do the same thing on it over and over again…not much of a challenge, and for sure not much knowlage gained…just an avoidance of the facts…no pain, no gain…a wisdom that has become replaced with and by speed.
Just voicing a personal opinion here…has to do with the story of the hare and the tortoise…
Everyone runs the race in thier own manner…what counts is THE FINISH…
GOOD TO SEE YOU POSTING AGAIN …Pushav…![]()

Yeah I had to get back to speed painting just to get back into the flow of using my wacom tablet once more. Recently I have been drawing stuff and got rusty at painting. I started on a mastercopy but I quit painting on it due to the mastercopies being the same old stuff to me. Yeah some people trace big time but on my more detailed photos I put in time to try to get proportions right. I usually zoom in to get the likeness. I do have some animated gif images to show my progress on some of my work but the image hosting place messes with the gif file and it doesn’t look right when I preview the image.
A new painting…Ps7

Another Pino study painting…Ps7

Good stuff dude - keep pushing those studies. You seem to have a spark there, and it will be nice when you really go for a full painting and invest in it. Can’t wait to see that.
Looooooooooooooooong time no post from me.
I am currently working on a cheesy and stupid web comic.
Her is a drawing of page 3 which is a s[lash page. I added in some random text for this thread and my other sites so I could upload it.

Enjoy.
Sorry for the lack of updates… I had to clean up my computer because I ran out of room on my hard drive. I have more stuff coming soon.
Hi Verdell, great progress in your sketchbook. It’s very interesting to see you looking for your personel style. I like the looseness you have in the Pino studies. Keep going!
Thank you very much. Fans seem to love my take on some of Pino’s work. I have more that I am going to do. Right now I am in the process of making more brushes for my photoshop 7 to help texturize some of my work.
I amlost forgot how to do my Pino work due to not doing one in a while. I also know that this pic has anatomy issues also. I had to remake some brushes and I made some new ones to add to the style. This is just a warm up for the better pino work.

HEY …Pushav…:bounce:

GREAT TO SEE YOU JUMP BACK INTO THE MASTER STUDIES…:applause:
That’s where you will learn and progress the most I think…MORE WORK DOING THESE,…BUT …HEY,…NO PAIN,…NO GAIN …

REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO …MORE …![]()

I have another pino coming. I was working on it at 3 am the same day I was doing the warmup. And the next one will be better a whole lot better lol.
Thanks for the comment.
Here is a digital sketch done with my so called digital Micron lol.

I kind of tried to get a retro book cover feel to this sketch. I should re-do this and turn it into a real painting and submit it to the cgtalk gallery.
Enjoy Until the next pino coming soon. Leave your crits or comments.
Woosh! Here is a random image I had laying around on my hard drive
drawn on 11x17 paper and inked with a gel pen and toned in manga studio ex 3

Crits? Enjoy and merry xmas to all.
I have to re-focus back on my art once more. Plus I am test driving my new pc that I put together that is waaaaaaaay faster than my old intel garbage. Amd for life. It is good to be back ith amd lol.

The saga continues…
Post comments.
