LSU tigers that is, in Baton Rouge, LA. Man the CG market is dry here. I’m sure most of you guys don’t know me as I keep to myself unless I’ve got something to say and I don’t post too much material.
So who am I? Sadly CG is not who I am. I’m all about PCs. I started professionally in the PC market in 1994 to earn money to buy gear and software to “do 3D.” Good and Bad move. Good because there is crap loads of money to be made in PCs. Bad because the spark for me left the computer industry long ago. I have friends that still get excited about it, but come on. If you really know PCs then you know they never change, never. Yeah some new part comes out and its neat but its still the same crap I’ve been seeing for years. Networking is facinating to me but I’ve worked on, designed, built and supported multi-million dollar systems. It takes alot to get me excited these days. To me, the PC is a tool. Just like a hammer. It does a certain job when I need it.
So as is always the case, you make good money, you spend good money. Now I have obligations and responsibilities and I can’t leave the PC industry. Mostly because there is no market for CG work in Louisiana. “Well Wyatt, why don’t you just leave LA?” No way! I’ve thought about it and even with all the problems this state has, I will NEVER leave LA. Not to mention we have found our perfect, absolute, dream home. It had everything that both me and my wife wanted. Including a second home on the property for my autistic son incase he needs it later in life. He’s only 7 now.
So my gross worth is a million dollars. And my debt load is a million dollars. It always makes you feel cool to say million. Just don’t mention the debt part.
I actually don’t own much at this point. If anything I’m a good lesson in persuing the thing you want to do not the thing that is convienient. There is a light though. That 2nd house I mentioned, we are taking control of it from a tenant and I’m setting it up as a studio in the next month. That should be awsome.
I try and come off as really experienced. I’ve been doing CG for 8 years off and on. I’ve even gotten to do some animation modeling and level design for a game years back. But I’m no pro I’ve got little to show for from all these years. This is the bulk of my work. http://www.wyattharris.com/grde/index.cfm?id=Gallery&id2=3D
I suppose my strong point is design and ideas. My head is packed with probably a dozen scripts, 3 series, 2 comics, and dozens of picture ideas I would love to do… one day. Anyone with ADD probably knows the feeling I’m talking about. I just get so destracted with all the crap I do. First is the wife and kids, thats my first priority, then work. After that its: art, games, music, games, grass (6 acres), games. You get the idea.
[edit]uhh… I don’t even mean to imply my wife and kids in the crap section

Too wordy. That’s enough for now.
