The lamborghini gallardo that never was.

Software used: rhino3d

Ive been working on it since december 05.There was nothing simple about modelling it.Beware anyone thinking of modelling one.The blueprints i started off with were a bit crap(proportions were bad)but when i got proper ones I had to make modifications. Dont you just hate that when the blueprints are wrong and dont know it?some places were off by up to 100mm.There are very complex parts near the front and rear fenders which have been butchered and blended many times(to get them closer to the real photos) which may look a mess but believe it or not look smooth and accurate when rendered.theres still some problem areas im still working on.
Some parts havent really been made yet because the surronding parts arent 100%.
im using a mirror technique so one side is usally an update or two behind.
The mirrors havent really been modelled.

Ignore the front rim, something weird happened when meshing.
this model will hafto go into 3d max for rendering so ill need your guys help with that.I only know basic max stuff.
heres a quick flamingo render. it should give you an idea of how the max render could improve it.

its an update due to:
[ul]
[li]The wheels are more closer to lambo cala wheels.[/li][li]The doors are scissor instead of normal including mods to the split lines and a divider on the window.[/li][li]Foglights on front bumper.[/li][li]Headlights slightly different but cant tell from this angle.[/li][li]Back engine cover has different style.[/li][li]later im planning to show the panels to the side of the engine open up to allow more air to the engine.have a look at murcielago/cala and youl see what I mean.[/li][/ul]please help by giving a rating or comment thanks.

Five stars from me, very nice. Good job

thanks man.

Ur Gallardo looks great!

So when are u thinking about posting the final Renders?

#5

Can you please post those proper blueprints
I’ve been looking into it myself but haven’t had much luck yet.

#6

Sure .Oh yeah the dodgy blueprints were from tutorials3d.com BEWARE.it might be worth another look for the main blueprint as it may have been a gif at first but lost quality when converted to jpeg.

heres the second(large)
please tell me if the link works im not sure if it should be url or tag or img.

I havent really finished the modelling yet so it could be a while but less than two months.Im also having problems with other views and getting it to look good from other angles.its the car paint material in rhino .it has a weird fallof (index of refraction).

#8

Thanks, though I found those blueprints already but was hoping you had better ones

i say two months because im doing the interior aswell-which will be an updated version.an attempt to stray far from the audi owned interior.Im trying to make it like a supercar interior(think along lines of veyron, maybach excellero and diablo).
ive only spent a few of hours on it (interior) so far but forgot to post shots.
heres some shots of the scissor door action and interior.havent touched the model yet but im looking for ideas.

i hafto think of a solution to a pillar on the inside thats now part of the door.that will add strength.
does anyone have some shots of the real underside?

#10

the interior i modelled was really a quick mockup to see how much space i had .
i was going to model more of the interior today but thought it would be a much better idea to sketch it first to save time when modelling and to get stlying problems solved first.I never sketched an interior before so it may look a little weird but i like where its headed.
later ill shade and add gradients highlights etc -basically colour it in.

what do you guys think?

#11

shading. shadows and more detail are next

#12

So you’re designing the interior yourself? Because it looks a lot like the real thing.
I don’t how those doors work, I’ve seen some gallardo’s that have something in between scissor and wing doors though. Anyway the inside of door (and where the door fits in) isn’t flat, see here

(I have lots more great ref pics, if you need them)

#13

hmm…ok i didnt think of that when i started sketching. Its more of a 3d problem that i should try and figure out when modelling.my sketching abilities can only forsee so much .The doors open differently on this car though. It should open simularly to the mucielago, see how it looks flat?but ill admit it should overlap a little bit.theres an area of the door near the hinge that should be thin.I can see a solution to the non existent door pillar in this photo aswell.
About it looking simular… well it is sortof, i didnt want it to change too much in areas such as airconditioning and user interface because if it is an update these things are too expensive to change the placement of.Some ideas that the designers had were really logical but dont really look supercarlike, im attempting to make it supercarlike.

Heres an update with shadows and a small bit more detail.Highlights are next.

#14

heres the final update.

#15

hi ^^

i thinks is funny the render style, what do you use for it ?? is photoshop drawn or it’s an ink’n paint shader ???

for max render, you can improve them, using MR for example,

#16

is this the render or sketch your talking about?

#17

yes,it’s the cartoon sketch, i guess you did you with max, but now, i guess i’m wrong ^^

#18

i used microsoft acrylic (beta) for the sketches because it was free.Im getting illustrator soon though because it lacks control.

#19

gallardo doors open like this http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2000-2003/2003-Lamborghini-Gallardo-study-fdo-1280x960.jpg

but it’s ok if you’re makin a customized version

im trying to model the mirrors at the moment but theyre pretty hard .Does anyone have good reference of the arm part? i cant tell what the cross section is like.
