I am new to 3D, I have been learning Cinema 4D for about 4 months now.

This was done in Cinema 4D and the frame was added in Photoshop

Really nice - I am trying to do this style of character at the moment and maybe being too critical of myself, I usually end up not even saving it.

How did you get the small features to work on the large round head?

Could you post a view of the wireframe/editor view?

PS Are you going to attempt to animate him?

This mesh is absolutely terrible, many objects are solid color in wireframe mode, I didnt know a hug poly count was a problem in the begining of modeling this character so there are huge mistakes all along the way, because liek I said, this is my first project, so at least now I can plan a bit better for my next project.

because there are so many polygons and just a whole bunch of mistakes with the file I wont be animating him, beside Im not really an animator.

Well, considering your newbie status to 3D, you’ve done a great job! (no one else will ever see the wireframe so it doesn’t matter how you got the result.

Thanks for the wire, I see how you got the detail now. I am trying to squeeze it into a much smaller poly count. You can imagine trying to get eyes to be in the middle of what is right now a large square!

Lovely image. The lighting really works well. The hand seems a bit too small, even for a stylised illustration, and the lips don’t quite hold up as much as the rest of the image, but for a first work this rocks! Keep it up :thumbsup:

for your first character this one is really great!!! like the style!

maybe you do extra work on the fingers. it seems that there are not animatable… there are too small and thin to get any good poses… i realize that on your 2nd pic.

shave and a haircut transformed into polygons… Im pretty happy with the look of it. But I have to say radiosity and that hair do not mix. I dont know if I will be doing it that way again. Seriously very very slow renders.

thats fantastic work…all the more impressive by the fact you’re so new to cinema4d…i think some seasoned “professionals” would have problems achieving what you did…i also like the composition of it all especially the photoshop bordering really adds to the image…for once the character has lots of character.
excellent work looking forward to see what you do for your next topic.

(only comment would be on the later image the pose is excellent…i would just like to see the sheriffs badge have the word sheriff embossed on it in a curved line…little detail but you may has missed a detail like this for a reason so i’ll leave it with ya)

really sweet work:thumbsup: The edgeloops on the face mesh are all over the place but as you quite rightly say, if you’re not animating it, it doesn’t matter too much and it doesn’t detract from the end result either. The hair and colour work is very nice.

The colours on that second work really nicely, and the hands don’t bother me there - did you make them slightly larger? Hair is great. Agree with above comment about the badge though…
