The Journey Down

Some might know me from before, most of you probably don’t. I have been lurking this forum for some years under the alias “flumpa” but am now poised to use my real name, hence creating a new account. I hope this does not violate any rules.

Now, I think it’s time for me to introduce myself.
I’m a Swedish indie game developer, running my own company with three friends. Our main project right now is our point 'n click adventure game The Journey Down. I will be doing all animation, rigging and rendering for the game, as well as some modelling and simpler scripting when needed.

The point of this thread is to post WIP animations on a regular basis during this project. I have animated characters before, but this is my first actual story driven game project so I'm looking forward to a lot of fun and learning lots of new stuff. I know for a fact that there are many skilled artists out there so I'm open for all input and advice you might have to share.

[The Journey Down](http://www.skygoblin.com/) is a classic point-and-click adventure game title for PC, planned to be released in four separate parts. The first chapter "Over the Edge" follows our brave pilot hero Bwana and his sidekick Kito as they, while trying to make ends meet, end up getting thrown into a twisting plot of corruption and adventure. The first part is scheduled for a 2011 Q4.

My colleague and best friend [Theodor Waern](http://www.twgrafik.com/) made a shorter, low-res, no-speech version of [The Journey Down: Over the Edge](http://www.skygoblin.com/) in summer 2010 as a prototype for the current hi-res commercial version of the game. This prototype has among other things won a bunch of funky indie awards, one of them being the coveted “AGS Game of the year” Award.

This past week I have been animating a hallway scene from the intro, and I managed to get about halfway done. A sneak peek at an playblasted version of the scene can be seen here at the bottom of this post. (When finished, by the end of this week, it will contain a second animated character.)

Bumpin’ with a little progress update

We’re slavin’ away at a crazy high tempo now, churning out Bwana and Kito animations at the speed of light, also we’re hard at work finalizing and animating our backdrops. Here’s a sneak peek below straight from our dev-blog:
