Yes we can add displacements to MasterZaps new Skin+ shader, infact I already have as well as some other stuff.
I will talk to MasterZap and see if its ok to release this modified version here.
In 3dsmax all approximation settings can be set in the render dialog under the tab rendering.
I use View, edge length = around 1, distance = 1 (if 32bit and range 0-1), subdivisions around 4-16k and you can uncheck smooth if you want. These settings can be done on a per object basis as well.
