The Hardcore Modeling MINI-Challenge #1: The David

#41

i m in
everybody welcome

#42

3 Pages and no WIPS. Damn, you people are afraid to face the master. Well, me too.

#43

I like to wait until I’ve something decent to show before showing it)
Nothing worse than a WIP showing 3 polygons.

#44

hey, can i model his genitals? :stuck_out_tongue:
i’ll definately be doing this… great idea! i’ll probably do the arm or head…

#45

Fun!

I’ll join in if I can.

#46

It would at least give me something to do to eat away the downtime. I will try and enter.

#47

Damn it!!
I was planning to make this model for my own portfolio before this challenge, and I had gathered many references (containing the ones written here…)to do it in a near future, but now… because of the F**king assignments I can’t even touch it, otherwise I would certainly join this competition.
Damn it!..

#48

Great Challenge! If I want to model more than one body part can I make all my work one entry? or do I have to do seperate entries for each?

Ok I’m in my WIP thread is HERE

#49

wow, nice choice… will be following this!

#50

Oh here are some orthographical images…

#51

This is quite a challenge - a model with such high level of detail in such short span of time 0_o - absolutely crazy [in a good way!] Wish I could enter :] Still, good luck to everyone.

#52

Nice challange, I might have some time for a body part (probably the right hand since i like it’s pose.)! Good luck to all.

#53

Robert, is there a way to zoom in on the ScanView? Thanks for giving us all those references, usually takes me a couple days to find all the pics for me.

Here is the link to my thread.

#54

Thanks for this challenge, and that ScanView is super cool!

I’m not a organic modeler, but going to give this a go.

#55

zoom = crtl+LMB. To move the light it’s ctrl+RMB.

I think it will be interesting to see people’s strategies for this. I am goign to model it in it’s current pose, in parts, the way it was sculpted, but I’m sure some will do the common T-stance, pose it after, and then tweak the mesh.

#56

Good Idea.

#57

Oh  strong idea.
But, these last images already deserve the award :stuck_out_tongue:

#58

This is it  Im in.

#59

Wheepp … the huge david database is for user only…
i wish i had just one of this model to look at, better.
Anyway i like this challenge. Maybe i’ll do the right foot
(i like the pose) or the full figure…
Dunno if i get extra time… Hmm - Good luck everyone.

edited: whoo stupid me… I’ve just installed scanview and… surpise!!

But you must have in mind the sculpture is intended to be viewed from ground level
so they are greater than the real ones so you must don’t look your own for reference!!!

Well, I am afraid. My first man modelled ever if I enter. The most difficult part for me
is face of course. In the face you moves a vertex a milimeter and the entire face changes
so I think judges will be focusing on the face to find the winner. If I enter and I achieve
a good face I will be satisfied.
