I believe all the work I’ve posted thus far has passed into public domain, but thinking about it, I may have a few pieces that may be questionable. I’ll have to investigate.

TAKE CARE
Glenn
here it is better photo here, the yellow Sara Bernhardt. the fact that the did stayed yellow and did not fade is because it was in the wraped up in dark for decades, its a version of

.
All of the pearl illustrations from the book “Kingdom of the Pearl” are beautiful. Hope that you enjoy them.

Thanks, Glenn and ikuru. Liam and Jana, what great pieces to own. I love the ones I have, too.
When I first started looking into inking…lo these many years ago…I got this wonderful book that included illustrations from this great artist, Franklin Booth. He used ink lines to convey tonality in such expressive ways.

Enjoy!
Cris
OH MY GOD I’m in love with the white elephant !
I LOVE your thread, it’s SO inspiring!
Glad you like them, Serena and Brooke.
I have been doing some research on Art Deco textiles trying to find what I wanted to do on the girl’s dress in Songbird and I think I finally found the patterning I want to use. Also, trying to get the perspective right for the balcony.
Movie magazines, in particular, were incredibly popular at the turn of the century. Many of the wonderful covers on several magazines were by an illustrator, Earl Christy.
and this from American Magazine.
Enjoy!
Cris

Hey Cris,
If you haven’t heard, there is a major Joseph Leyendecker
Exhibit at the Haggin Museum in Stockton (www.hagginmuseum.org). It is
scheduled to run to the end of the year.
There is NO catalog. The exhibit is supposed to travel next year, but no venues have been announced. This is something worth seeing, I know, but I’m bummed, 'cause it’s so faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar.
Thanks, Serena, Gislaine and AztecFireFlower. AFF, I am currently investigating if I may try to drive up there or perhaps take the train. But why, oh why Stockton of all places?
This is an excellent resource for illustrations of the Golden Age. There are very good articles accompanying many illustration examples. I recommend bookmarking it.
Some old Popular Science covers.

Enjoy!
Cris
Thanks for this Cris… especially the 2 covers of “Popular Science”…
I don’t know if you saw that, I post 3 new B&W pics of Mucha’s paintings in the BH and Austrian pavilions…

Hi Cris,
I like the cover The May American. She looks sweet with all the flowers. Sorry I haven’t been active lately…going through a blue time. say…are you painting something new? Please…I want to peek!
Take care,
Brooke.
Hi, Lolo. Glad you like them…I actually look for these just for you and a few others who have expressed interest. I actually acknowledged the Muchas in the WIP Exchange thread…shoulda done it in the 1900 thread…sowwy. But thank you very much.
Hi, Brooke. I’m so sorry to hear you’re in a blue place right now. Ya know, personally, I fight depression all the time…it’s a struggle. I have unfinished pieces all over the place…hah! I am working out some aspects of Songbird, but am trying to finish a portrait of Claudia from Interview for the Vampire for a project. You can see her in my Sketchbook thread (check my sig). Thanks for the interest.
Cris
I love these popular science covers! It’d make an interesting discussion to come up with exactly how they ‘did’ that style:
[ul]
[li]Strong, saturated colors. [/li][li]Very clearly delineated forms.[/li][li]Geometric shapes.[/li][li]‘Standardized’ male/female faces/bodies.[/li][li]Use of classical composition formats.[/li][/ul]If anyone comes up with more to add to the ‘formula’, post them!
P.S-- I love the ‘birth of the pearl’ painting, that’d look lovely on my wall.
This is a treasure chest…lovely colors on ur last post Cris, here waiting for update…
…i’ll be notified of your new pieces too! wink
NR43…Thanks for the compliments on my thread…
p/s : Cris, did the Southpark guys do your avatar?
