Honestly…I am just tired of CIM and I wish he would just go away. He never provides anything beneficial to any discussion and it is really exhausting to have him around. I just think he’d be better off doing his work in Maya and leaving LightWave to the rest of us. I can find a buyer for his copy of LightWave pretty quickly if he decides to sell it. He could use the cash for something he finds worthy of his existence. So to be nice…CIM…just go away, you bore me and so many others. I’m sorry…that’s just how I feel.
That’s all i wanted to say.

I am just tired of threads like that, damn there is nothing wrong with LW 7.5 just Newtek sucks lately. 
Lightwave is still a great tool, nobody needs LW 8 right now, sure it would be nice, but you can do almost everything with LW 7.5.
And if there is something you cant do there are so many plugins and scripts, many of them for free !!! 
Look at the Worley (G2 and sas), eki, dstorm, ogo taiki and many more plugins, if you really need them, they are there, and many of them are priced under 100$, thats almost nothing for this power.
If you dont want to use LW anymore try a different software, like the overpriced XSI or the software from the marketing genius A|W (Hey, watch the maya reels, they are pretty nice, but they never show any features, just blablabla).
These software packages are all the same, at the end the only thing that really counts is the rendering and hey I would say the renderer in LW is one of the best, and thats LW standard.
Try features like GI (I know generally incompetent) or the hdr, LW is great there and thats almost old stuff for a LW user.
And the most important, the LW community rules, you know that, you will never find a community like that anywhere else, thats really important.
The only thing thats wrong is the Newtek marketing, there are just to many rumours out there. Newtek should end all the rumours (luxology and so on
…) right away, if they would tell us something about the future of Lightwave nobody would scream for LW 8. There was no official statement about Luxology, Aura was removed from the homepage, hey guys whats going on. We buy your software and we need to trust your Software and company in the future

IMHO, these are fantastic responses. I’m thankful that many of the Lightwave heavyweights have also chosen to weigh in with their perspective. People are putting a lot of thought into their message and I’m enlightened that much more each time I scroll down and read every one.

I have just as much right to use LW and to come here as anyone. Just because my lips aren’t buried in Newtek’s ass like some ppl., doesn’t mean I don’t like LW. GET REAL LW is just a program. I’m tired of seeing these losers treat it as some sort of religion, which results in flame wars when someone doesn’t praise their all mighty god.

I think it’s time you examine your purpose on these boards and determine what is important to you…being someone who people look to for advice and suggestions, or the resident curmudgeon everyone gets annoyed with. You bore me like you wouldn’t believe and I’m just tired of reading your verbal garbage…I don’t care if you bag on NewTek or LightWave or my grandmother, but come on man…if you hate it so much and never provide an ounce of constructive criticism how do you expect to be taken seriously by people.

I haven’t used Lightwave in a few years and even I can think of 3 lscripts off the top of my head that CIM has written. FastIK, a UV stitcher and a progressive save for modeler. To say he has never given anything constructive to the LW community is totally false.

I know that CIM’s personal mission in life is to cause mayhem and distruption…and as much as I respect a these type of acts, sometimes they are just too much. They lack focus and any real purpose.

Cool…i’ll give you that. But in all honesty I don’t use FastIK or any IK for that matter since I’m not a character animator. I am horrible at rigging and don’t have the patience for it ya know. My primary function with LightWave is for print work, and the occasional UI and logo animation. I would love to develop my character animation skills, but I know people who are far better than me at it…and I think it’s sensible to lean on people’s strengths to make the best use of talent on projects. Why hire a dentist to set a broken leg?
I’ve said what I’ve had to say on the matter. I’m off my hobby horse and CIMian bashing…
And for what it is worth…I use LightWave on the PC and on the Mac under OSX, so I’ve seen it on both sides of the fence…but I am pretty nimble and when I hit a wall on the Mac I move to the PC to alleviate any frustration. I believe in using tools which help to get the job done quickly, efficiently and without too much pain. Why suffer on any platform?
I don’t know…say what you will, but I think life and creativity is about solving problems and not being burdened with what you are given. It’s up to each individual to remove the shackles which bind them and keep them from realizing their true potential as artists and human beings.
