Here is my latest WIP. It is inspired by my recent trip to the smokies. I took tons of pictures of this cool, a-frame house we stayed in. This image is a bit blurry and overexposed, but it inspired me to try to recreate it to be better then the pic i snapped. Here is where I am now with the model.

Further modeling, started lighting and texturing.

Here is my first ever test with indigo, have some bugs to fix (like the uv image not appearing, and it being so noisy) 16 hours:

(removed image, it was big and looked like crap anyway)

Here is my latest render. I’ve added more lighting and textures, but I think the paneling doesn’t look as good and I don’t know what I’ve done to it

Still no suggestions? Well, here is another update.

Any suggestions on how I can get some suggestions?

I’d really like to make the the best I can, something I can put in my portfolio, but I could use some tips. (I respect that I am competing with many talented people here for c&c).

its looking good… i think what it needs is the main light source that is in the image from wich you took the model…

i dont know how is the real room… but, maybe some hdri reflection simulating the other part of the room behind the camera…

what software are you using?

Thanks, chiiph. In the original photo above, you can see the overhead light. I don’t really care for it, so I was going to leave it out. I thought it would look cool if all the light poured in from outside. In this screen, you can see all the lights I am using. I played with hemi, spot and sun lamps, but seems to have the best results with area lamps. This is done in blender.

I’ve used hdri’s in the past, but always have trouble finding good ones. Also, I didn’t know about it being an inside scene, most hdri’s I see simulate outdoor light, or huge interiors like churches.

(edit)
That small area light at the top of the stairs is a negative light source i was playing with after the last render, it isn’t it the render I posted last. oops.

well… hdri are for everything you want…

http://www.lightworks-user.com/hdri_starter_collection/sachform.htm

this two website have the best hdris that ive seen…

the lighting is good in your scene, there is always a way to improve your scene in this subject… but as i said… maybe you can try to put as an enviorement reflexion an hdri image…
