The Failed Prototype

#21

Sorry for being a bit late on this update, but it took more time than anticipated! I changed the ground, added a bit more debris, scratches and changed the light.

#22

Nice improvement

IMO,

[ul]
[li]The ground looks much better now.[/li][li]You could blur out the foreground objects which can improve the overall focus on your characters.[/li][li]The object behind your male character is to much scratchy and a bit low-res.[/li][/ul]

Thanks for the feedback again! I may have gone a bit overboard with the scratches on the back :stuck_out_tongue:

I will add the blur to the foreground, and decrease the amount of scratches, and fix the resolution!

I feel I am almost done with this piece. I can do some tweak here and there, but I feel I have to move on soon. I have learned so much by doing this piece.

The scale feel like a miniature. Maybe too much depth of field

#25

you’re quite welcome.

Here’s a quick comp I did to give you some ideas

#26

Here is another update! The vignette and the dust particles gave this scene a much dirtier look, so thanks Amirabd2130 for the tips. I also added a stronger yellow photo filter, and some blur on the foreground elements.

I think I have to consider this piece done soon, and just leave it, and come back to it later to get a fresh perspective. There are flaws that can be fixed, but I am happy with the progress of this piece so far.

#27

It’s definitely better, but I still think foreground objects could be blurred out more.

IMO, it would be a great exercise to spend more time in composition before calling this done.
For instance try these in Photoshop:

[ul]
[li]Iris Blur (also Bokeh effect)[/li][li]Lens Correction (Chromatic Aberration, Vignette, …)[/li][li]Camera Raw Filters (Exposure, Contrast, Vibrance, Grain, Vignette, …[/li][/ul]

There is so much photoshop techniques I am unfamiliar with, and I am going to do this as a good excersise! Thanks again!

It may take some time between the updates now, since I have to do a fur groom project, but I will come up with an update hopefully over the weekend

edit*

There is so much to play with that I did not know about! I am having a blast right now

#29

You’re welcome.
Looking forward to that

So I played around with the several setting of the Camera Raw Filters and Lens Correction, and went back and forward with different results, but I decided to be more subtle with the changes. In the end I came up with this.

Hope you guys enjoy it
