Created for a scientific article called "Do Fish Feel Pain’ in the Australasian Journal of Science. From an old American folktale…where God created the rivers and filled them with fish. The finest of all was the catfish which sparkled with brilliantly coloured scales in hues of red and blue and gold. One day God came upon the Devil plucking the scales from a catfish to fry for dinner. The fish was wincing in pain as each scale was pulled out. God was so angry that he threw the fish into the water where it slithered in the mud to ease the pain. And from that day forth catfish no longer had scales or shone but became mud coloured and difficult for the Devil to catch.
