THE CLONE WARS Reviews are in general, "Grievous"

A new Boba Fett series that replicates DOGG the Bounty Hunter reality series.

Anyone remember the ancient fan film “troops”? (inspired by “COPS”)

I’m still of a mind to boycott the crap out of that show.

DISCLAIMER: None of the above comments are there to reflect on any company that did CG related work on any of the said films. The CG was generally awesome and my main beef is with the story writters, directors, and producer.

I love that disclaimer!

My kids liked Clone Wars but both said that it is not the best movie ever. Lip sync was really bad.

Yeah, that’s always been one of my favorite SW fan spoofs. Some great gags, and nice production values. Good concept, too. The first half of the film with the jawas is the funniest part.

Others may slam this movie , but I liked the stylized movements and wildly stylized character designs. It wasn’t meant to be real, so to me the lip sync argument not looking real is a moot issue to me. Maybe the story wasn’t refined, but I sure did enjoy the visuals alone.

Let’s give the director credit for putting something out there that looks unique. I find it humorous that the critics don’t like the character styling. I like it because it has a fresh look all it’s own. I’m tired of seeing the same old CGI style characters.

And, remember this movie was made on a TV budget.

“looks killer”…unfortunately thats the only thing it had going for itl…for now.

i to loved the look of the movie. although the animation was lacking at some points and didnt lend itself to jaw dropping action. in the fight scenes i wasnt gripped to the screen as i should be.
but i generally agree, the look is awesome (in my opinion).

but you cant have something that looks pretty, the flaws witht the film do not lay in its apperance, it has a rubbish story.

After watching the movie the 2nd time, I began to appreciate it more. And I think everyone in this forum will be Tivoing every episode from the show… taking notes. Maybe on how to make animation on a budget and others because there isn’t any show like it on TV.

After remembering the pilot episode for many shows including the Simpsons, I know the show can only get better. And as someone kindly corrected me earlier, this show isn’t being animated by the same team who did the movie.

So as the series rolls on, the animation will be refined, along with the storytelling. We all know how the story ends…so what! We know how the story will end in almost every hollywood movie we see and we still enjoy them. (examples: Spiderman III, Iron Man, and especially TITANIC) Watching the build up to the end is what makes it fun!

I agree that George Lucas doesn’t push the story as hard as the visuals unfortunately.

I thought that some group in Singapore was tasked with creating the series? I didn’t think it was being handed off to anyone. I know there is a lead team in the USA and the animation is done overseas.

I remember reading Dave Filoni saying their biggest challenge was the lighting. Well it looks like they’ve suceeded!! Those images on Wired are alot better than the 3 episode pilot that was on the big screen, what a vast improvement!

Yeah, I’m still explaining that to my 9 year old. He has seen it in everyday life on occasion or in some movies, but it seemed strange to him in a Star Wars cartoon.

Movies in general are starting to step across too many lines. It wasn’t necessary in Transformers to focus on masturbation either. I stil haven’t explained that scene to my 9 year old yet. I just cringe or interupt and ask who wants a snack when it plays through.
That part made me cringe too. Bad thing is they were so worried about him masturbating then it turns out okay to have a hot half dressed girl hiding in your room with no questions asked.

The “gay” hut was not really gay. HUTTS are hermaphrodites and can take characteristics of either male or female gender.

I do wish George would play around with his whole universe and not just stick to Anakin.

I do like the movie being on a TV budget as I believe budgets are going to have to come down shortly. Not much profit if the most you can make domestically stands and 600 million and your movie costs 300 million to make. Cause chances are it wont’ make that much money in the long run. So good for George in bringing down the budget.

#248

LOL, according to Wikipedia Clone Wars cost 8.5million to make yet took in 52.38million worldwide. For such a low budget thats very respectable, but I give Lucas a new experiment: Do it again but without the Star Wars label attached to it and see if it gets the same profit…

#249

I challenge Lucas to do anything without the Star Wars label on it.

Is this about a game or movie?

#252

Thanks! I didn’t think of that. Sort of like a frog I guess.

When it comes down to it, its fun for the kids and its really a money making machine, so I do not think Lucas is worried about critics. Take it for what it is and have fun.

You should first challenge yourself to create anything nearly as spectacular as he has and to build your idea big enough to not only change an industry, but to support several others in their careers as well. I am not a fanboy of Lucas, but he should be given credit for what he has helped developed and the careers he has helped launch(Harrison Ford). Remember that next time you are working in Photoshop(orginally created for masking frames in Star Wars).

LOL, give the guy credit for a new Indy movie this very year…

Whilst his contributions are always well noted and appreciated, Apoclypse does have a point. LucasArt did actually challenge themselves in the past to do games without relying on a franchise( Monkey Island, Full Throttle etc ). But since Phantom Menace they have been churning out 90% Star Wars related shit. I think Lucas could do with trying new things -being the pioneer that he is - like LucasArts used to be.
