Lovely thread, this is getting crazy on the details!
Great work! ![]()
very nice work
, perhaps a just few stronger highlights on the face to give it bit more depth, the eyes are great but the nose looks a bit flat
I think you have a really good concept there.
I think the lips looked better with less detail with black/ tonal green with more black value.
http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/8885/fairycopy6qe.jpg - is my test to see if it looks any better or worse… (sorry i’m bad rusty painter).
keep up the good work
Thank you all very much for the encouraging replies. It certainly fuels my enthusiasm.
@ Vizion: Youre right the concept is very unscientific.
Like I said before: this project wasnt planned from start to finish. Its a personal journey.
But dont get me wrong, I value your comments
@ FlyingP:
At moment Im working on the basic texture of the skin and the hair. Trying to fuse them with the tentacles. Ive also painted the hand ( struggle…) and gave it some highlights which gave the skin a rubbery (w.little highlight) or a metal (w. lots of highlights) appearance
… have to find the right balance
@ Aloriael:

I was thinking about adding some more color ( pink/reddish) to some of her large veins, finger nails and lips. So Aloriael I might adopt your suggestion, youve made her lips very sweet and soft.
But Im not sure what type of fairy shell become
… I dont want to paint a glamour girl fairy, thats why I made the creases/cracks running across her face more prominent. But I dont want a total creep either
Thanks again, Emile
ouch, I was quite missing this stunning piece!!!
I like it’s “Advertising” style looks very much. I hope this one goes into the cgChoice gallery!!!
Keep it up, I wanna see more of your works!!!
This is coming out awesome, Arty. The skin textures are incredible and I love the eyes. Excellent stuff!![]()
I am curious as to how you do your water droplets. they look great. I have been trying to figure out a cool way to do them and make them look okay. I am doing a fire and water piece with a gal that is emerging from water turning to fire so it has steam and water droplets, but have not done much with it cause can’t get water droplets to look right, lol
Simply gorgious! Aside from an original concept the elaboration is also astounishing. Thumbs up, and on your way for a cgtalk award!
@Monster_General, Xillion, Loris_, zpapageo, Mfunky and Thekkur: thank you for the supporting comments. Because of you guys I might even finish this project:)
@Neoquark: the drops are made by filling the basic colors roughly in a circle. Then smudge paint/push/mix the colors to the side of the circle and when Im happy I deform it to the shape that I need. I must confess that chance and luck are playing a major role in the outcome. I often have to start several times over so…
Im recovering from a small operation to my knee a few days ago.
These last few days I had very little energy for anything really… But today Im feeling a lot better , made friends with my Wacom again and heres a small update of TCSF

I ve started working on the little fairy whos being teased by TCSF. She has lots of details which sadly are invisible when you zoom out …
Anyway shes far from ready, she needs wings and her hair needs some more attention.

The recovery time, away from my real job (which has nothing to do with art) enables me to work on this painting . Normally I would’t have been able to find enough time for this
Im thinking about starting to work part-time and spend the new free time on painting…
…( Yeah, i like to do some day dreaming now and then :).)
.
i’ll just subscribe here because i desperatly want to see this finished!!
wonderful work man!! Love it!
I’m loving the details. One of my professors and good friends always says, if you can’t see the detail, don’t do it. What do they know? :wise:
I say do it if it makes you happy… but if it is for a deadline, get it finish it even if you’re not happy with it.
this is really impressive stuff!!
that skin is great and overall it has a very strong feel!
looking forward to see this masterpiece finished! ![]()
wow yer keep up the good work
i’d just like to suggest u reduce a bit contrast on the little fairy. Maybe black is too black.
yet
i’m not sure of what i’m saying lol
Arty2,
Really beautiful work! Your early airbrush experience really shows through! ![]()
The main figure / face looks fantastic! Compositionally, I’m not as crazy about the smaller figure…but I’m sure you’ll resolve it.
Looking forward to seeing the final!
Cheers,
