The carnivorous sundew fairy

#102

The bee - I wouldn’t make it blue unless you count on introducing blue in other areas too. If not I would make it more redbrown to make it fit more with the red areas of the image. I would also just brighten a slight bit what is supposed to be the white of her eyes. Just a slight bit brighter green than the skin tone.

I like it Alot!! Great textures.

i think the new mouth fits alot better and i love the teeth lol… but maybe something more of a smirk would fit even more? perhaps lower one eyebrow slightly shrug… where the fingers are gripping the string i think you should darken the strring a bit, just slightly darker to show the shadow of the fingers… >.>

also while i’m enjoying the new fairy both her and the old one had a severe lack of sundew tenticles involved and this one have more of a yellow tinge to her than TCSF… and i’d have to agree with Photographer on the blue bee… unless you intend on adding more blue to the rest of the pictures then it really does ditract, it stands out and makes itself the focus when it isn’t.
anyway keep it comin!

Beautiful work, nice detail. Great seeing the progress!

#106

Maybe some value on those fingers, would make the fingers seem more rounded, and give it depth, seems a bit flat, right now, looks really good though, good luck with finishing!

#107

Absolutely stunning progress Emile, I love the new lips! My only suggestion at the moment is that the skin looks like it could use a little more moisture to it - it just looks a little too dry and crackly at the moment, like its all about to flake off ^^ - perhaps a little shine or dewdrops? anyway, just watching in awe…everytime I start to think I’m getting better :scream: hehe!

#108

well arty, I really think like you, the new mouth is a great idea and when you look at it from a very close spot it doesn’t bother me at all, but if I stare at the whole painting, there is some annoying thing about her face that I can’t pinpoint. She seems to be sillier than evil.
Anyway it’s a great great job, and I really look forward to see the end of his beautifull piece of art

cheers

Wow, what a nice experience this was and now this is the end of my TCSF journey.

The effect it has on me reminds me of the time when I was a little boy, Saturday afternoon in a swimming pool with my friends and this huge chute/waterslide. Climbing the stairs of this thing was very hard for me and it took for ever to reach the top. But hey, going down was such a fun experience. Feeling funny in my belly and very happy. Well, something like that

Thanks everybody for all the votes and nice replies.

Now let’s do this again

Ps, I feel very silly for not having done any painting at all these last few years. Too busy with wife kids study and work ( healthcare )

I’ve worked very shortly for an illustrator’s agency in Amsterdam/Lauriergracht. They were very kind people but I was just a kid then (’83) and not ready for the big city and all that.
Anyway that’s a little bit of my story. I’ve made plans to work on a portfolio again and then do a “reboot”
