textures not loading in the viewport

#1

I have a strange problem with XSI 6.02. When i open my scene textures in the viewport look like various cousins of noicon.pic. When i look at the materials in the render tree the same textures show up properly in shaderballs, and they do render out.

Also a couple of times a texture won't load to the scene, even though i can open it with preview and photoshop. All the other textures work, just this one won't load and render.

These two things seem to happen totally randomly.

 Here's some more background:
 - My project folder is on a local drive.
 - I am using referenced models, exported from 6.5, later scenes are loaded to 6.02
 - I tested it on a couple machines and it doesn't happen with mine or others i tested with xsi 6.5
 - However it happens in 6.02 every goddamn time ;]
  • The 6.02’s are Foundations
  • All the workstations with foundations have ATI Fire GL cards. All the other PC’s i used to test it had Nvidias

Is it possible that it’s just a memory problem? That it shows as much as it can in the viewport at a given time? We’re using quite big textures.

I really hope you can help.

Here's a little sample:

I don’t have a solution for you but I can tell you that the shader-balls are rendered similar to how the region tool works, they aren’t real-time like the working view-ports.

Unlike regular rendering, the view-ports operate in real-time and they use your video card, so if it’s not a problem specific to your actual scene file then I would troubleshoot in that area.

Try updating your graphic card’s drivers and playing with NVidia’s custom settings for OpenGL. Anyways, hope that helps narrow things down for you.
