Texture stretching when i use spotlight?

#1

Okay so i mustve googled endlessly for this problem for a few weeks now. Im usually the type to try and find the solution myself but i simply cant. Ive put it off for too long so i decided to ask here. Sorry if im hard to understand, my english is not that great.

So it seems whenever theres an angled surface, spotlight will paint and stretch the texture. I dont know if its the UVs or what but ill walk you through what i do. Im also still a novice but im trying my best to learn so im sure im missing something.

  1. So heres a torso i made. Ive already subdivided it so i can polypaint sharply (even though the texture i use isnt that big to begin with). Ive painted the front and all around with spotlight using a texture zbrush comes with.

  2. From the top down view, you can see how the texture is stretched after painting from the front.

  3. So if i re-paint the top part (shoulders, arms etc)…

  4. The front of the model nearest to the shoulders is now stretched… Even if i paint right between those two angles, both sides will be stretched.

  5. Here is my UVs and topology. Prior to paint spotlight i used Zremesh and UVmaster to make these uvs (it looks like a manta). I noticed its all along the edges where the stretching happens.

I cant figure out whats causing this. Im not even sure what to google for aside from texture stretching but i havent found anything related to my problem. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. This problem is the only reason why i dont use spotlight anymore however id like to, zbrush is a great program.

try using the (projection master) a model with UV with uv master
then turn on double by tool>display>double
then press projection master activate texture >double +fade
if you want to convert to polypaint >tool>polypaint from texture

you can all so use polypaint with out spotlight
just select your texture with stroke >dragRect
you will need to do front then back
then top and bottom, dont over drag the outer edges to much.

you may want to google zbrush seamless texturing

Thanks for the reply! Ill give this a try

dragRect worked a bit but there was still texture stretching on angles. Im a bit confused with the projection master bit though. What exactly do i do with a projection master? I only have one model with UVs (the one in the pictures).

projection master lets you paint on the model as a texture.
google youtube projection master
