Texture Map Display Settings

I’m very new to vue & wondering if there is a way to edit your texture map display settings. Basically I have a very high res aerial photo mapped on to some terrain, but when working in the model it shows up with very little detail. The texture’s true resolution is only displayed when rendered. This is problematic, because the texture map tells me where to place trees, buildings, rocks, etc…
