Okay, I found the gutts to join the challenge.
I read the April-challenge stops on May 15 so I still have a couple of days. Hope I’ll find the time.

Just finished this sketch of the little mermaid.
I’m going for a goldfish-look
The fins look a bit too thik now but that’s just because of the sketchwork. Want to keep 'm very light, like transperent.

Want to keep the coloring a little sketchy/smooth mix, well… let’s just see what time will bring.

Hope you like her. Please critt before I ink her.

Bye, Jeroentje :wavey:

btw, as Crumb said; “A dirty mind is a joy forever”.

Looks nice, and good to see more people joining the challenge!!
The only thing I’d say is that her face doesn’t look very feminine. Other than that it’s looking good!

O jee,

hey great sketch! that would look greeat painted, good composition, but i must agree with puddlefish the face looks a little manly due to the very large cheek bones and jaw line…it reminds me of the comic book artist Frank Quitely on how he draws women. Can’t wait to see it painted though!!!

I’ve just taken a look at the goldfishes in the watertank here at the frontdesk. Theres definately gonna be some changes in the fins&tail tonight. About the face: yes you’re right, she does look a bit to manly now, but I use these lines just for figuring out the main-shapes. I do the lines for placing of the shadows, and erase 'm afterwards, so everything gets a lot softer.

Have to start working now :annoyed: , it’s 9.30 in the morning here.

Hmm, 44 views in 23 hours.

Whatever.
I’m having a good time and that’s the most important.

Here’s the (semi-)final inking. :wip:
I will start coloring now and just change some details in the lining while doing that.

I really hate my first posting when I see it back.
Women should be gracefull. That’s why I got rid of the side fins.
I did add gills aswell as you can see.

Hope you enjoy this as much as i do. :bounce:
Cheers, Jeroentje

btw here’s a close-up.
As I said, all the lines in her face are just for shape.
They’ll be gone in the end.

I will start painting tomorrow (…or get a life :insane: . One or the other).

Going to bed now. (0:32)

Looks good so far, but I’d make her jawline more angular, and the chin a little smaller.

Thanks man.
Specially from you. Your entry really kicks ass! :buttrock:
Sorry, about “more angular”, my english is failing on me.
I would love to hear what you mean.

Bye, jeroentje

Puddlefish,
Do you mean that you want a bigger jaw?

btw I think she looks like a “healthy farmers-daughter” now.

Will start coloring this afternoon.

jawline more angular, and the chin a little smaller.

Hij wil dat haar kaakuitlijning wat hoekiger is, en een kleinere kin.
Sorry again for the Dutch.

I wouldn’t make the jaw bigger, she’d start looking to manly.
It even might be a good idea do make the entire jaw a little smaller and a little less round.

#12

Okay, here’s a wip for you.

About her jaw&chin; I think she’s lovely and I’ll keep her this way. (I like a firm woman  ) Think it gives her some personality. Too standard women are boring. It’s the little mistakes nature makes that make them really sexy.

I’m just finding the main shadows now, finding the lightning.
Color’s not good yet, way to brown, she’s a redhead so she will be a lot paler. But I will put an adjustmentlayer on top of my bodycolorlayer later. It’s just shaping now.

Have to do some other things now, will be back to this in a few hours.

And here’s another wip for you.
I could use some support please

Man! I keep forgetting to attach the pictures.

#16

her nipples are a big too big and stratched out, otherwise, great!

#17

Thanx for the compliment. :bounce:

Quote from “the Full Monty”;
“Do you really think her breast are too big? Is that possible? I didn’t know that was possible…”

Anyway, you might have a point though.
(or is it “tho”, trying to improve my English)

Oh HELL!
Just made a horizontally flip of the image. I now see what’s wrong with the face!!!

Puddlefish… I stand corrected.

I will start working on it tonight again if I can find the time (it’s 15:27 here… 1h33m to go).

Okay, I’m running out of patience with this lady now. I’m finishing the last details.

Cheers,

Here’s the new face, think she could use some more hair:
