Texture/Light/Render - Character - Chico

#22

OKay…I lied…

No real update today…Been churning through texturing the skin…Heres progress shots anyway…I wont show larger ones yet as Im doing the seams tomorrow moring. Then Ill show you.

Thanks Lord…I am on holiday… I have my sammies here…but Ive misplaced my juice.???

And thank you too strike. Ill make it…Soon. Ive managed to get out of heaps of work so some other poor sap here is doing it all. So I can turnall my attention to this and RTCWolfenstein:thumbsup:

These are still early. There will be less contrast when Im sorted out, and theskin will be alot greener I think. I quite like the green in the original texture.

I love your approach. I have been entirely too lazy this month, and haven’t spent any time on my mapping challenge. I now want to go through and map with the checks so I can paint it up.

Nice work, and thanks for the great presentation.

#24

this dude is cool, the surfacing you have started looks great, and yes I can only imagine what that search engine request would bring up… ug:D

the model is cool too, just a personal thought, I’d like to see this guy with a bit more detailed eyes/eyearea.

keep it up
Adam

#25

Thanks guys…Ill be working on the eyes later tonight I hope…Adam…Those were only ever stand ins…Other than that I am happy myself as to how the head looks as it is only a helmet. Still I am always open for suggestions:bounce:

OKay…Small update…Im going home for some foods, Ill be back later tonight…Time I worked out the enviroment so I can focus on what I need too. Otherwise Ill never get this done.

Let me know…and there my be another update in the next 12 hours…(Who needs sleep?)

BTW…still need to sort out seams etc…and there is only diffuse colour here with no lighting other than default ambient (SIn sin sIn I know)

#26

Ahh, yes I see now, hehheh,
nice update, the color is perfect… only color channel! well, I can only imagine when they are all filled in,

I like how you have many small pics of progress, great idea

keep ‘em comin’

You know I have been fairly pleased with my UV mapping on this months chalenge, and then I look at all of yours and I go gee I wish I could map that wel, would make my painting easier too. Great method and will go well with mine of colour grouping all areas into their UV maps and such. Thanks for the great stuff I am learning a lot from this along with Leigh’s texturing workshops I feel I am learning so much this month.

#28

Hey! Its Oggi!! :applause:

Nice work Chico! that skin texture looks great… Hows things treating you in the cold cold south?

#29

How the hell? How did you get a 3 STAR
5 FROM ME!

#30

Hey Chico, he’s come along so nicely!! :bounce:
Awesome work!!
By the way, you are very brave to look up stretch marks on Google - aaaaarrrggghhhh :insane:
Looking forward to seeing this little guy all finished!

#31

OKay…due unforseen circumstances…Im a little behind:surprised

Still trucking away though…(Thank god for caffine budgets:bowdown: )

Will proably be a upperbody shot…No enviroment though sorry…May be able to stiick him in an enchanted forest next month aye…

Next on the list is some eyeballs…then onto completeing the texturing the body…

PLease…I want heaps of constructive crits on the head soo far…Refer to the earlier images to see where the eyes are going…Ummm…still looking a little plasticy…Ill work on that a little more later…I shouldnt have any probs fixing that…

Lots of C&C if you guys arnt panicing to get yours done…
Cheers Heaps,
Cam

great googly moogly! :surprised that’s a lot of layers broken down up there. I like seperating out render elements for comping, but damn! Was it only the 5 in your second post you broke it into, or did you literally use every piece? Just curious.

Looking very cool. See what you mean about a little plastic feel perhaps, but the maps are still looking really nice. The ‘muscle-like’ stuff up on top really has a nice feel to it. There doesn’t seem to be a lot going on on the…jaw(?) underneath, is that un-mapped? Some bumpy stuff on the skin might help as well. Anyway, hope you get to the finish without any permanent damage

Luckily I can just hang back and watch for this one, I hope to enjoy the panic in the forest next month.

#33

Quick Update…Plastic look reduced…Still not really happy yet:shrug: …Ill work on it more a little later.

Thanks Hypercube…Yep, under the jaw is part of the skin…to be continued…later on tonight…

And dont worry bout the layers…I have a habit of recording my progress, and compiling it through the PShop Contact sheet feature. It helps me keep track of my progress and see what im doing. I figure I ll share it with you guys so you can see my (sometimes really backwards) progress.

Also Thanks Leigh, Adam, Kaskai and Iguiniz.:wavey:
And a big hello to chris…Havent see you lurking around here before…:wavey: But your 100 posts suggests youve been here longer than me:p

Back to it…

geez what resolution do you work at, 1280x1024 and I still had to scrol a little to get the edge or your image. Awsome sompilation, really neat system to see what you have done. I will have to try some of these things in the future. Allows you to go back and see what you have accomplished. and where you still need to work. I tend not to domultipasses and then comp but now looking at how you could simply change the colour of the shadow map and then know what it would look like without re rendering, could be useful when rendering something that takes about an hour at the qulity I want.

anyways I got an S**T load of work to get done by nine (I thought I had till midnight, dang eastern time) So I will go into crits after the challenge as I really like this one. Still looking a little plsticy in a few spots, could be fixed with a little diffusion, and what illumination type are you using for him, I sugget Orennayer for most of him as it seems to be the bonelike structure of the head and such would have a slightly mor matte feel.

#35

Sorry bout that Kaiskai, I have Duall monitors, so I wave twice the width that you do:p I get a little inconciderate…hummmwonder what this post looks like on you old run of the mill 800x600:surprised

OKay…Oggie now has eyes…And there has been quite a bit more reworking on the rending as well…Starting to feel a bit appier with this now…althought it could also be the fact that Ive consumed 100g of coffee and Ive been up for over 24hours now:insane:

I need a hug.

Well, at least Im doing this cause I want too… not cause of a dealine set buy a client or something… I really wish I had a contract that warrented this level of work:deal:

OKay…By my calculations I have 6 hours left…midday here…Lets finishe off this skinn…and see whats left over:thumbsup:

Time for a coffee first:argh:

#36

Wow great stuff, and on my dual siplay it is much easier (I tend to avoid using both as the second display is a telivision and too blurry for text. anyone know a fix for that???

I love the little hints of the green goo around the mouth filter. Great stuff. I just want to reach out and poke his eyes they look so slimy

#37

They look like toffee apples to me:drool:

#38

what happened to the eyelids in your avatar, they add a lot of character?

#39

They are still there…:surprised

#40

FFS This sux…Never in my life have I experianced RSI or anything like that…Well…My arm feels like its been trampled over by an elephant…Im gonna have to finish up here… :annoyed: :insane:

I still have plenty of time…I just cant carry on much more…:thumbsdow

Ill post my final in Half an hour or so…

#41

about another 6 1/2 hours of work for me before I do final render

well maybe 6 to make sure the render has enough time to do its job
