what kind of names or words do you use for textures in your files? for example
-color (clr)
-bump (bmp)
-displacement (dsp)
-reflection (ref)
-mask (msk)

how does your texture names look?

I use a naming convention that I picked up from a few guys who create a lot of textures for video games. By no means is it the best convention, its just something that I use.

For example:
‘T_Floor_D.png’

T= Indicates that its a texture file, procedurals use a ‘P’

Floor= The name of what the texture is, one word that best summarizes your texture.

D= What channel your texture is of for, ‘D’ for example is for Diffuse, ‘R’ is for reflection, ‘A’ is for alpha, ‘B’ is for bump, etc…
