it look slike you made that render in bryce. Bryce is a crap program that is for amatures. Your image looks amature. I would chalk up this render as a learning experience and try a program like maya or 3d studio max. As far as your lighting, look up “3-point lighting”. cheers

Hey man! Reminds me a lot my firsts works in Terragen! Don´t worry about what others say  It´s great to be your first CG Image… no need of composition, lighting,…

Keep up the good work!

it’s very amateur really, but the worst to me is the software you used. Terragem makes evrything for you, try to learn a more complex software like maya, max , xsi … and so on

I think Terragen is fine for a beginner.
I agree, the image needs a lot of improvement. Read the Terragen documentation (it’s straight forward, easy to understand), play around with settingsn for the atmosphere, placement of the sun, etc.
Then you can get into texturing your landscape, converting height maps to 3D and so on. There’s millions of tutorials on the internet.

This will teach you a lot of the basics and then you can go on to other software packages to make really great pictures.

You’ll get there! Practice, learn and be creative!

Hey man, if it’ s your first work I think you’ re on right way!!!
Good job, you need more practice but…you can do it!!!
Bye

Shivboy, don’t let others discourge you, you’ve made a beginning and that’s waht’s important. Read up on the different technologies and methodologies and learn all you can. Also, terragen is a great program, very powerful and affordable, and programs such as Bryce and the other “amature” programs are good too. Remember, it doesn’t matter how expensive your pencils are at the end of the day, only if you’r able to use them well. You’d be surprised what you can do with “amature” software. Keep learning and spreading 3D Cheer!

:curious: either that person above me has deployed sarcasm, or he is a very odd person indeed. Ah well…

It’s great as first image  I can’t remember my first image… too long ago

Congrates on posting your first work!

as others have said, your on your way into 3d.

Its differnetly is way better than my first 3d image, dont know if ive still got it, was a image of 2 drops of water falling into a plane, with ray tracing on! using a programs called Moray and Povray, i was so exitied i couldnt get to sleep all night and was hooked into 3d, just keep on learning and dont let others discourage you, and remember there are hard core professionals posting on these forums.
