Team Fortress 2 - CGSociety Players

EDIT:
Prepare thyself, for at last, Meet the Medic has come!

Whew, that was intense.
/edit

EDIT 2:
So, TF2 is now a Free-to-Play game. The free accounts still get drops and stuff, but they won’t get cosmetic-only drops (hats, etc.), is basically the whole difference as far as I can tell at this moment.

Also, Medic weapons. Also also, there’s a new flaregun for the Pyro.

Regarding Snakewater, I don’t like 5-point CPs in general, and I think it’s because of that back-and-forth gameplay. After a while, it becomes ā€œjeez, somebody win already,ā€ and I get bored out of my skull along with no measurable progress. It can be fun when it looks like one team is going to win, then the other pushes back and wins instead, but when you’re stalemated between two points like last night? Mind-numbingly boring and very frustrating, especially when running into a point and getting mowed down/blown up/backstabbed by the same person repeatedly.

My tastes may be skewed, though, since I liked plr_Gibraltar. Mostly because it was hilarious watching everyone run around like headless chickens and get hit by trains. Then again, I also take the same satisfaction from cp_ohho, koth_lolcano, and koth_windmilltrainsaw.

Server has just been restarted. Give it a minute or so for the update to be live.

#7728

Ooh, shiny new Medic things for Melvil to kill me with. And the meet the medic video is fraking awesome! No wonder it took so long.

Anyone up for an early TF2 game tonight?

#7729

Not sure if anyone noticed this.

Q. How does the Coaching feature work?
If a new player on a Free account upgrades to a premium account and indicates that you were their most helpful friend, you will receive a wearable item. Helping new users via the Coaching feature is a great way to meet new players and help them out!

I wonder what it could be.

#7730

That’s a cool feature. Might actually promote good behavior on the internets.

Some interesting new items I hadn’t seen before:
Pocket medic (for Heavy)
Fish (new building material I guess for making the Fish sandvich)

#7731

Actually that fish/fish sandwich is old. You could only get it if you own that game SpaceChem (I think it was SpaceChem). It works like Pokernight, where you get items in game for TF2.

Also it looks like a lot of the free players are after Jarate because one of the few things they can craft is the Solemn Vow which needs 8 Jarates.

A new item type was also added:
Strange items

See also: List of Strange Weapon Ranks

Strange Minigun
Level 1 Minigun - Kills: 0

The Strange quality was introduced alongside the Uber update, available through unboxing a series 19 and onward crate. They have a kill count that shows the total amount of kills obtained with the weapon. The items will have their name changed dependant on how many kills the weapon has. For instance, after getting ten kills the gun will change from ā€˜Strange’ to ā€˜Unremarkable’.

Hey, so you’re talking about a possible hang out in the Kalamazoo area? I’m still not sure what I’m doing that weekend for sure, but it’s possible I’ll be at my family’s lake cottage in Sturgis, MI which is about an hour south of Kalamazoo.

#7733

Well, I’d love to have a little meetup if you’re up for it. Norron’s said that he might possibly maybe kinda sorta hopefully almost be able to, so it’d be neat to get something together.

#7734

I’m indeed up for it. I haven’t gone on a road trip in awhile anyways so this is a good excuse.

#7735

Wondering which looks better, or any suggestions on something other than a top strap. Maybe it just looks strange because he’s not wearing the hardhat.

#7736

Sweet! the game is now freely downloadable at Steam for those who missed it (including me).

Hmm, I think either way it looks like horns are just pasted to the side of his head. Maybe if they tilted out/drooped down a bit and you centered it to the strap it would look like they weren’t attached very well to the goggle strap. And then jiggly bones and all of that.

#7738

Brain: The horns seems a little too far up on the head, but I think that’s the goggles strap messing with me. The placement looks awkward, but I can’t pinpoint why. Are there any other locations on the head (or the helmet) that you considered?

In other news, my computer has hard crashed (No blue screen. Screen freezes - once all black, once a freeze of what was on the screen at the time, once all light blue, which is a single color from my desktop - and all sound through headphones is lost. Holding down the power button to restart does nothing, I’ve had to hard shut off with the switch on the PSU.) thrice in the last 24 hours. I reseated the RAM and stress tested and the third crash happened within a few minutes. Tweaked its voltage and I’ve been running a stress test for ~30 minutes now and it seems stable. Any advice on stuff to check/tests to run?

#7739

Ya moving them down will help, the only problem with that is any lower and they clip through the ears. It starts to look really strange if you cant see his ears.

#7740

Put them over his ears? Like horned earmuffs? Maybe a little fur at the base for those cold desert nights?

#7741

I don’t think so.

#7742

you could move 'em forward and down a tad, so they’re over his temple’s. maybe even part of his goggles.

#7743

Awesome! So shall we pick a day and make this happen? I’m guessing Friday or Saturday would work best, but what say you and Swizzle?

Brainsample, you up for a roadtrip?:wavey:

#7744

Friday, Saturday or any day would be cool. It’s probably more up to Swizzle’s schedule.
