Team Fortress 2 - CGSociety Players

Dang, I hadda work some OT.
I totally missed out. :frowning:

#405

We had a fantastic time today. I was even bold enough to speak on the mic! Not sure how well anyone could hear me though. Sucks not hearing your own voice… sorta.

#406

Yes yes yes, I wasn’t busy and I actually remembered. What a great time, always better playing with comrades vs. total strangers.

Kromano, the Escherness of your map is seemless. You don’t even realize the changes till you stop for a breath and realize your on the ceiling, priceless. The little rocky outcrop around the back of the one base kept throwing me until I tried it with a scout. Very good capture spot. There are a few blind spots. I was able to snipe from that front windowed area without anyone attacking me. Maybe the lighting being that low made me invisible? Much as I liked it  needs the lights turned up.

Swizzle, your map is awesome we just didn’t have quite enough people to fill it up when we tried it. Still, loved sniping on that level. The corners in the canyon do keep the sniper from being overpowered, good job there. A heavy could do serious damage staying on the center island with the health pack but the path running over it can be used to cancel it out. The rest you pretty well know (cough) sentry gun in the base (cough). Maybe add one more entry point from the sewers into the intelligence room, IDK.

Many thanks to Jeeta for his sentries gunning me down all night  and thanks Akin for hosting it. I’ll definately be back next week.

Well thankyou for the kind words Mr. WyattHarris. I’ve been trying to up the lighting all around but I think it’s going to take a bit more than just bright lights to help defend against that sniping spot. I might need to open the windows more to make the sniper easier to hit.

Your mention of room transitions reminded me again of the first escher inspired map I did for CS: Source as an exersize learning the Hammer editor. I still have a copy uploaded to http://members.shaw.ca/bluzz/escher.exe but bandwidth is pretty limited from there. Only about 10 people should be able to download it before the cap is reached. I think I had more fun building that map than this current edition, but the TF2 variant is much more interesting.

This coming Friday I will have an updated, opened and better lit map available and hopefully I’ll be able to attend the chaos.

#408

Glad you like it! I’m in the middle of a big pile of family and school responsibilities right now, so I won’t be able to do much to change things for a while. I guarantee that next time you play it it’s going to be harder for a sentry to dominate that flag room, though.

As a side note, the entire level is about a hundred feet shorter than it was for faster action and slightly more sniping and Heavy possibilities. We’ll see how well that works out next time I’m able to update. See you guys on Friday!

a friend just sent me this…

{medic}I’m on Fire!{/medic}

#412

I feel horrible for laughing at that. :argh:

#413

A reminder to swing by my thread and grab the latest copy of my map (ctf_escherhausBeta2) for tonights match. I’m working on a redo of the cliff environment to provide better visual feedback, hopefully it’ll turn out. The bases will be roughly identical to how they’re laid out now with minor changes to the intel.

Woooo TF2!

#414

Here’s a couple mirrors for easier downloading.

Kromano’s: http://www.vanillachicken.com/tf2/tf/maps/ctf_escherhausBeta2.rar

Swizzle’s: http://www.vanillachicken.com/tf2/tf/maps/ctf_happyvalley_v002_2.rar

P.S. It would be great if you can post what your download speed was, thanks in advance.

#415

I am officially done with school for the time being and am now on winter break. So it’s time for some TF2 action!

I hope we are playing tonight?? I really want to see how Kromano and Swizzle’s maps have come along since the last time I played.

#416

My map hasn’t gone much of anywhere since last game. Sure, there are new intel rooms, but none of it’s working and I haven’t gotten much chance to get stuff doneĀ—I’m about 500 miles away from home right now.

#417

Take your time, you’re not under any deadlines. Take care of what needs doing and relax for a while.

Hopefully Akin isn’t, uhh, MIA tonight!

#418

Hm… no game tonight huh? I wanted to play a bit. =(

#419

Hey, sorry everyone - I was out all night and just got home - didn’t have a chance to setup the server.
We’ll resume the matches next week though.

#420

I’m going to try out a 24/7 private 24 slot server for a month. They’re relatively inexpensive so I’ve ordered the first month to see how they work. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to play some of you folks over the weekends on this thing.

If noone plays it … then hey I’m only out about $25.00. With over 120 members in the CGTalk group, I’m hoping everyone takes advantage of the thing though.

It’s currently installing … I’ll pass on the info when I’ve had a chance to set everything up.

[edit]That was quick … :D[/edit]

Let me know how it works.
PM me if there are any problems.[/spoiler]

FYI: The server is located in Dallas, TX. I tried to pick something central to the USA. Apologies to CGTalkers in foreign countries.

This is great news. Good looking out Kirt. When you get it up and running let us know so we can christen it.

#422

Sweet! It works! No one is in there though… I’ll go in when it fills up a bit.
Modeling Heavy right now. =D if you guys wanna see the engineer,

I’m giving you admin priv’s in the CGTalk Steam Community group, so go ahead and post the news whenever you want.
