+Taron+Gjpetch+mv+ collaboration thread

#1

Hello folks!

Taron had the idea of doing a collaboration on 3D, and Greg and I were delighted at this idea. We’ll basically create 1 mesh each and rotate the models between us some times, each building on top of what the other has done.

We’ll start to post the first models soon, this is gonna be fun!

A 3D Worm?.. I love the idea!! I may join if you are ok?.. more info about it?..

#3

Sorry, I think we’ll just stay the 3 of us for this time  being too many will complexify the task.

#4

Sure!.. Sorry, going from ‘Collaborative’ to ‘Wip’ forums I did a mistake thinking you shared the project… and you’re right, too many guys on it will be difficult to manage…

However, good idea!

Uh, the pressure’s on…haha! I thought I’d mentioned the “asap” part…but I guess it’s simply “now”. Arite…sure…let’s roll!

First I would want to propose a geometry style/concept, that way we can all work within the same parameters, so to say. No harsh differences in style of task and a pure focus on style itself!

The idea is to have a complete low resolution mesh done and UVmapped. Then we’d take it into Zbrush and go crazy with our sections. Rotation style means that everyone of us starts with a head, then gives the exported low-res geometry and a texture, which indicates until where the fine modeling had been completed, on to the next one to continue with the chest and arms. Then eventually the same procedure moving on to the legs. At the end we would bring it all together by forwarding our displacementmaps and what ever info would be needed. Rendering then can be done in any software. I will of course use messiah:studio. I assume Greg will use V-ray, looking at his amazing renders. And Mat? I don’t remember what you’re using? V-ray, too? Gorgeous stuff…I really also can’t wait to see it come together! :wip:

Here’s to a crazy project!!!

Damn!!

3 artists of the unusual and unique, 3 bastards when it comes to technical preciosism…
Im about to see my guts represented in such beautiful way that will probably make me want to eat them…

Damn!!

Its gonna hurt.

Whenever you want…

Taron, M@ and Greg, this is one that im going to be keeping up with :bounce:! Cannot wait to see what you 3 guys come up with! 3 3d geniuses collaberating their thoughts to produce 1 amazing, MAGNIFICANT work of Art! :applause:

#8

hummm ! ! ! very interesting staff for a certainly an futur amazing stuff ! !
have you find the concept or the ideas?! :buttrock:

je suis vraiment curieux de voir ce qu’une tel collaboration donneras. …

#9

I’m also very impatient to see that, come on guys !

#10

Yeah dudes, c’mon!

#11

Yes, yes, we’ll start a test run now…I’m tired of delaying it myself! But it’s only going to be a little test at first…very primitive model, primitive everything…then if that works, we’ll gradually go to higher qualities!

Now that messiah has no issues with Zbrush’s uvmaps anymore it’s even more fun for me to just go crazy with stuff…I’m a little too thinly stretched to deal with decent uv mapping…too lazy if I had the time, you know. But it’s totally cool now… …FUN!

Cool, let it come!

#13

Dead?

#14

Nope, I’m just waiting and it looks like Greg, too! Mv, what’s up??? Dunno…yes, the pressure’s on’em! :wip:

The stupid thing is, we can’t show anything along the way until we at least have one complete model…otherwise the whole principle won’t work!

The good news are, Greg and I have already worked on one round and what I remember to have seen looked damn funny…and bizarre of course!

So, no, not dead!

#15

Geez, i thought you guys, where supa fast :stuck_out_tongue: Just kidding, i’ve groomed my roots to the chair, and i will wait (loser mode activated). :scream:

#16

Well…I really don’t know what’s going on? Mv seems to be too busy?! I’m too busy now, too…but I already did my part…at least two actually… (a head and a body)…a shame… :curious:

#17

I’ve started on the torso for matts head. I’m pretty busy for the moment, so I’ll take a little while. I’ve got a tricky idea to generate the displacement map in max, then do final tweaking in zbrush. Does anyone happen to know a good way to use a bitmap to displace a mesh within zbrush? I could use a mask and inflate, but that only pushes out or in, not both at the same time.

Edit- two stars? hehe.

#18

Awesome dudes. I’ll be looking forward to this one. I’m hoping to expect some crazy details with multi-displacement maps from Gjpetch and animation with using animated displacements maps from Taron. Hope to learn something from the both of yuz’.

Cheers.

I’m surprised there are any stars for a thread that shows not too much so far…HAHA…kinda cool.

Anyway, if the bitmap is just 8bit, it’ll certainly suck, but you can still do it, if it was based on the same uv-map for example. I don’t know if you’ve already done displacement in Zbrush (I mean, as opposed to just generating a map, applying it to a mesh instead!), but that’s what you would do I assume. Just in case you don’t know…import an alpha, go to tools and masks and click on (alp) to apply the alpha to your subdivided geometry (which ever level of subdivision you like). Then go to displacement and enter the amount of displacement you’d like in the bottom slider and hit apply displacement…that’ll do. The other thing I thought of recently was to use projection-master for some things like that. Could work?!

Hope that gave some inspiriation?

#20

yeah I was wondering bout that too, lol, strange that people would bother rating it, and if they do why they give it a low rating based on nothing, hehe, anyway, this will definitely be very cool and inspirational stuff, if you guys can find some time,

Good luck,

Nova
