Table WIP

#1

WOrking on a table for a restaurant or a cafe

don’t think i have to worry too much about normal maps or sculpting

but i was concerned about the textures on the trunk and feet

they would be metallic and chrome-ish

if your unwrapping this and using images like jpgs how would you handle a chrome texture with image maps like that?

alright so a few things. first you have everything uv’d so that it is squared out which is good so that there is no deformity in your textures, but it can be a problem with the mesh showing different square sizes. the top of the table has larger squares than the legs so the pixel density will be different, which can be a problem if you use lower res images.

for chrome texture, its basically just a flat silver color, broken up by spec maps.

hmmm … i actually lost track of this project … and my files but im coming back to it now

had some problems with the textures skewing with ZBrush … seems ZBrush doesn’t like my topology, something about those Xs i dunno

so i changed it up and redid the textures … still stuck on the chrome stuff
thought i could plug something into the reflect and refract channels but don’t think it really worked out right
not certain what im doing

… a silver color broken up by spec maps??? so … what … grey diffuse with high specularity on those components? or … what?

sorry I’ll have to come back to this maybe tomorrow or the next day or something

I am at an amateur stage working in 3DS max. We are really just getting into more high poly modeling. Looking at your UV maps and reading the critiques was helpful to me. Thank you for posting.
