Oh…that’s way cool man! :), thanks for the feedback, I’ll definitely get going on this and see what crops up.

Very nicely done McGavish! :applause: Is there a download for the model? I’ve been looking for a tank just like this one. I’d be happy to help with textures, rigging, and animating if you’re open to some collaboration. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Nice rig and model.
Only Critic: the track looks a little too lose in the rig.
Based on my personal experience with the Leo 1 I would say add some more tension there, otherwise it will fall off.
@fguentzler: Thank you for your advice. I’m not fully satisfied with this rig so I will improve it later.
@sacboi: I’m glad you like it
Next update, some dust textures need to be improved. Hull textures are almost finished.

Not only some serious plausibility in detailed texturing and weathering here, but also artistically inclined as well - great job thus far.
Cheers
Very nicely textured although if I might give you a pointer, your textures lack some high frequency detail making them look slightly blurry/lowres. Maybe add a bit of that to sharpen it up?
Cobra 6
Thank you @sacboi!
@cobra6: Thank you too! Textures aren’t a problem, so I will replace them on hi-res.
Some of the new shots. Camera’s angles will be the same in the final renders. On the second one stones will be replaced. What do you think about it?

Very nice so far.
I’ve no crits, but I’ve a few questions about the materials (I’m doing a T-72 myself at the moment and it’ll be my first proper attempt at texturing after I finish the modeling).
Did you unwrap all the little bits individually? Like the machine gun, lights and periscopes. Or use box mapping or what? Do all the little bits have their own maps or are they shared with the larger elements.
It’s be sweet if you could give us some tips.
Insane work, the amount of detail in both modeling and texturing. :applause: The animation looks great as well! The environment looks very good to, i would have liked to see the background a bit darker though to keep the attention on the tank.
How long has this taken you, from start of modeling to completion with textures? And what will you use the model for?
@Temppe: Thank you! What a software are you using?
Most of object were unwrapped individually but for some small elements I used “Smart UV Projects”. This option uses angle value to unwrap and is very well working on small objects. I created some materials with procedural mask of scratches and rust (matching to the obejct shape). Then I duplicated it and made more variations (different dust level, more/less rust etc.). I used those materials for over 140 elements.
Tracks’ materials were made the same method (one material => duplicate x3 => changed UV mapping.
For bigger objects like turret, hull, frontal armor, wheels, mudguards I used baked AO as mask for dust and rust.

(Every single orange dot is an origing of object so there is a lot of elements)
@Elgstrom: Thank you! I have been doing this project since February 2014. Of course I wasn’t working continuously. Sometimes there were month when I even didn’t open Blender. I create this project to my portfolio (maybe for sale).
