Syflex not working?

#1

Yesterday I decided it was a good time to learn how to use Syflex, so I installed it and downloaded some tutorials from their site. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but after creating a cloth from an object and applying some gravity, dump etc, nothing happens. I mean, after doing this I should have seen some simulation after pressing “PLAY” in the timeslider, right? Am I missing anything?

Thanks in advance!

yes, you are missing a license.
check your script editor for details.

Have you started syflex server?
“Install Path\syadm.exe start”

Maybe the server is not running if syflex starts in cache mode.
(Means, you cannot create new movements. You can just use a previously made one.)

Nevermind, it’s working now! Now I must learn to use it…

Thanks again!

We had similar problems – we wouldn’t up having to solve a couple issues to get the software to work. Here’s how we troubleshot:

  • Make sure the server is running on the right computer; if it’s running on the wrong one, use the “stop” command to stop it
  • Use the ? command to make sure the server is, in fact, running; if not, use the “start” command to start it
  • the server commands don’t need any arguments passed to them – just “start” or “stop” with no other text
  • Put the plugin in the correct directory on each user’s computer
  • Make sure the plugin is active in Maya’s plugin manager
  • Put the text file with the license number in the server’s directory, AND in the plugin’s local directory on each user’s computer.

Those are the problems we ran into & had to fix – now it’s working fine.

Yeah, and make sure any firewall programs you use are not blocking syflex.
