Hey, I am trying to texture a simple object in Substance painter. For now, I have only impotred UVs. Which is probably not sufficient, as many effect are not working for me. I have tired edge wear, dust etc., but none of them were working. Which textures do I actually need to start texturing my model properly ?
Substance painter required textures
Hi,
The effects like edge wear, etc… rely on maps that you will need to either import (from your 3D app) or bake per texture set. The baking can be done within Substance Painter - See this video for an overview on the the baking process.
If you haven’t already you should check out the entire tutorial series - it will help tremendously!

Thank you for your answer. I’ve alredy started to watch those series and its really helping me to get along. Just a question thou. If I am just doing highpoly model for a picture, not as game asset, will all those effects work with a blank normal map ?
The “wear” effects are going to use the curvature, thickness, etc… maps for the most part.
For high poly models intended for use in stills you don’t need the normal you initially bake. You will be using the maps you export when you are done painting to complete your scene and render.
