Submitting an image to the showcase galleries is troublesome

#1

I’ve noticed that I often get the same message in my mailbox multiple times telling me someone on my favorite list has posted an image. The reason is simple; when we try to add an image to our portfolio AND submit it to the gallery at the same time there seems to be some weird bugs that will cause the image to only be added to the portfolio and not submitted. So people erase the image from their portfolios, and re-upload them.

I haven’t had the multiple-emails issue in a while so maybe something has been fixed, but right now I am getting the impression that the image I added to my portfolio has not been submitted for the gallery. There should be some sort of feedback telling me that yes my image has been submitted to the gallery, maybe an email or something?

Thanks

Hello there,

I am confused a bit as well about this. I recently joined this site and I submitted a picture for consideration. It says now in my portfolio that the picture has been accepted into the 2d art forum but I can not find it there.

Anyone might want to shed some light on this for me?

Do I have to now start a thread manually in that forum? Or what?

It should be in the showcase forum, you can’t start a thread in there. Usually, if it has found its way there if you check in your portfolio and click the thumbnail of your image at the bottom, you will view your image with your description but also a link to the created thread.

If you look at your portfolio page with the image, you’ll find something at the bottom of the text that reads, “This Image has x comments on CGTalk >”. This is link to the thread in the CGTalk gallery. Click on it.

And yes, there have been many problems with people submitting images to the Galleries. I go over this hundreds of times each year explaining the system or redirecting folks to this sticky thread in the CGPortfolio Support Forum. It all seems rather simple to me, but I guess it can be confusing to new people (or they are just not taking the time to read the instructions).

Thank you guys, I actually found it soon after, it was just that they put on a number of submissions at the same time and my submission was near the bottom of the forum page:-)
