After reading this in the 2.2b update notes :
" Now goes “around” current frame, starting from half of the defined percentage of it into the previous frame until that percentage into the next. This lets you shift how much blur will be from the next position or previous position."
I thought ’ cool, this sounds like you can have the blur from the previous frame to the current, the current to the next frame, or somewhere inbetween '. Unfortunately I cannot get it to show this kind of behaviour no matter what I try, it’s always centered around your current frame which is what the description says at the start, but then contradicts itself with the end sentence
So what’s the magic button I’m missing ? Did I just not understand the description properly or isn’t this fully functional yet ? It’s almost as if a ’ blur bias ’ control is needed / missing.
Imho the ’ Motion Blur ’ control should be the blur amount - from 0.0 to whatever - instead of what it does now - a numerical switch where 0 and 1 turns it off and anything above 1 activates it :surprised
’ Blur Fraction ’ should be ’ Blur Bias ’ which would allow you to ’ slide ’ the blur between the previous, current and next frame :
0.0 = previous to current
1.0 current to next
0.5 split between previous to current / current to next
And apart from hoping for dithered motion blur to be added at some point, a ’ blur tension ’ control would be
Being able to have more blur passes closer to the current frame and tailing off to the previous, or vice versa, would make for a much nicer look during animations.
