Ok I got combustion 3 and max 7 bundeled togeather and I haven’t figured out how to basicaly navigate in the prog yet. I’ve read the manual somwhat, but my problem is that I cant get my projects to have more then 30 frames. I swear I’ve looked at all the buttons and tried to find it in the manual but I think it’s so simple a problem they don’t even bother sticking it in the book or the help file.
I’ll load in an animation or pice of video footage and it will only play the first 30 frames… that’s it. That’s as far as I can scrubb. It’s pissing me off.
I feel like a total noob asking this but I need to know. How do I get more then 30 frames in my projets?:banghead:
Stuck at 30 frames
If you open combustion and go to File > New a dialog will pop up. There’s an input field for the duration. Just click on it and move your mouse right to lenghten it up a little bit. It’s right on top of the Background color.
Btw if you’re new, you should check out the VTM’s on www.3dbuzz.com. There’s a 2 hour issue that offers a great introduction to combustion and tells you everything you have to know, basically. It’s not quite long but it offers a great starting point.
Hope this helps you,

Select your workspace t (the tree-like hierachy window) then look for the tab “composition settings”…
Honestly this is such a basic thing I’d recommend to take the time and read the manual a bit before posting. No offence.
I agree.
Get those Video Training Module’s from www.3dbuzz.com, read the manual, maybe do some tutorial. And practice. Just try some stuff. I’ve only been combustin’ a couple of weeks now but I’ve been going through the manual (some bits and pieces), I’ve watched the VTMs and tried some stuff. I’m quite familiar with the whole UI and all of the functions.
Just my 2 cents, just do that stuff, then post again
Although I’d like you to contact me, I’d like to help you if necessary, into the world of VFX
da_gotan@hotmail.com (my MSN). So I hope to get in touch with you.

Yeah dude when you start a new project there’s a field for number of frames. Default is 30
Just slow and take your time with it. It’s a great pice of software and really worth the time to learn well.
Combustion is quite easy to learn, just a sidenote here. There are some great DVD’s available, I’ve seen one containing about 20 hours, covering pretty much everything, but it’s 395$. I recommend you spend at least an hour a day practicing, watching video’s, reading some manual stuff and do some tutorials that are on the internet. And just try some stuff.
After a few months, I am sure, you can do A LOT with combustion.
work through these:

they have sample files and go from the very begining at a reasonable pace
