We’re developing our own Street Fighter Engine with OpenGL and 3D models.

ACtually our Team consists of :
1 Professional C++ Programmer (Klaus)
1 Main Project Admin and Game Concept Developer (Thats me / DeathrayX)
1 Homepage Admin (Hild)
2 Drawer for Backgrounds (mosty 2D Art) (Zereaba / eXpanz)
1 Guy who helps a bit everywhere (DarkAlpha)

We Need :::::
3D Modelers for the fighters :slight_smile:
Info about which Model Format (Quake 1 / 2 / 3 | Half Life etc.)
is the best for souch an Engine.

looks like you have a nice team. a few question out of curiosity. Do you have a person that would draw all the character sheets??Its important. If you do have character sheet for Ken or Ryu, or any character for that matter it would modeling easier for the modeler. I newbie to modeling but i can do…hoever without a character sheet is tough to get the right proportion.

Also, since your developing on the PC…i surely hope you’ll add support for a PS2 controller via a USB adapter?

I guess its too soon to get a polygon budget for the character?

we are working on our own engine also…you’ll run into problems here and there but dont give up!! I’ll keep my eye out on this project. Hopefully when you guys get done, you’ll open it to all kinds of fighting gameplay, i.e. SNK style!!

BTW, we use dotXSI file format…much better than .X!

This Engine is Open Source
you can create ure own fighter and add them to ure game
and if ure a skilled c++ programmer u can download the code and change the things u want.

Its open for all :slight_smile:

And where is Youre project ?
maybe we could arrange a project fusion or something in this direction.

Check your PM, We only been working on the engine for about a month…but its looks pretty good :smiley: . support for normal maps,spec map, lambert/phong shader. I’ll post up screen shoot probably in the summer. Keep me posted and please…when you get your website up and running, post it here :smiley:

Sounds interesting.
I’d like to contribute with concepts and/or models and textures, but usually I’m busy. Check out Jimmy in my signiture.
This is completely fan stuff, not paying or something, am I rite? Please post more details if you can!

I’d like a try to build a fighter for yah!

What is the style you are going for? How is your animation system done? (specials, moves, etc, how many anims are needed)

have you guys thought about making ur engine in C# instead…granted that managed code is slightly a tiniwiny bit slower…but then would be much easier to code and easier to come back and edit. thats my opinion since it is my aproach…

for the character that are fighters i would recomend file types similar to MD3 and maybe extending it to a 5 part scheme…were these unless your going for a skeletal deformaiton form of animation…the draw back to that is…animation set are limited to the engine like in UT…MD3 also save resources by only transforming necessary parts…

also if you used dx9…all the shaders can just external to the app…using .fx files…

What about copyright and license, if you are going for any profit with this you could get in alot of trouble … :wink:
Even if not for profit, be on your guard this could get risky. :applause:

Hello Guys !
The first thing we did was contacting Capcom and tek them about our project.

They allowed us to threat it as an open Source project with no money earning (we always planned it as open source).
We’re allowed to use music sounds etc. based on Capcoms games while give them Credit and tell people this things are copyright by Capcom !

Here we go !

Only one problem:
We lost our programmer !

so we need someone “skilled” whos into 3d programming wo can code for us - if anybody can do C# or C++ ure welcome to join / help us :slight_smile:

If you know someone plz tell him/her to read about our project we need skilled people :slight_smile:

Man, thats outstanding that Capcom gave you the rights to use SF stuff!
Watch out for my upcomming short i made featuring the ShaoLiN KiD!!!

Try to download it there in the video section but the speed may be slow…
If you got any free or not expensive solution for a better webhost tell me!

I actually have 100 mb free storage and im not sure about the bandwith…
