strange grids in extracted maps

Hey I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before, I am extracting maps out of mudbox 2014 ext version. and I keep getting these grid like patterns on my maps. Both in vector displacement and regular displacement. This model was retopolgised in mudbox could that have something to do with it?

i remember having this issue once on a project, it was because i used the send to feature from max to mudbox idk but when i tried exporting to obj then taking it inside mudbox then all was ok. also run mudbox and whichever other software as administrator then try the send to feature, these are little bugs that are so damn annoying sometimes. export your mudbox object to object maybe and reimport it with the uvs and try again

I will try that. thanks for the info. I only did the “send to” in the begining perhaps that was the problem. I also tried flood smoothing the mesh and seems to help as well.

well you shouldn’t be having any issues like that with extracting maps in my opinion, even now as I type this am extracting maps:)

That is true, its seems to be something to with this model set, and the retopologizing of it.

I just meant that for my other models I have don’t have an issue with the extraction of maps. The two models I am currently working on were retopoed in mudbox and they are the only ones that seem to have this issue.For one of them having these grids dosen’t seem to affect it much. But for the other I get the grids in render as well.

o ok, i haven’t used the retopo feature much because i never got the results i wanted so i guess it might be your issue, let us know when you solve it
