Hello all.

It was very hard decision to enter this challenge, as there is so many talented artists attending. Lets hope that good competition will make me also fine tune my work. I try to keep my work simple enough because I’m really not so experienced yet. This is actually my first online competition which I’m attending. Probably I won’t win anything, but hopefully I get some good comments and nice experience.

Soon I will post sketch of my work and start modelling it.

Idea is that there is a tortoise that has rockets attached on its body and it’s flying very fast. This small sketch was done yesterday night when I was going to bed. It was best of the ideas I had in that time :).

its all about the experience. just have fun man. this place helped me grow quite a bit i am sure it will do the same here. good luck too. :slight_smile:

Opened Blender and started to model the tortoise. Sculpting can be started soon.

Modifying, texturing, sculpting the shell. Starts to look a little better.

Holiday time is over and modeling could continue. I added one leg to my turtle. Some fixing is needed of course, but I think I make some kind of non-finished stuff first and then do final tuning later.

Thanks for positive comments :).

Soon I have initial version of turtle ready. I have been faking a lot by not modeling everything that’s behind the turtle. For example, shell has only bumpy sides in front, but that doesn’t matter as this is only still image :D.

I’m now sure that I will make some “quick” version first and start finalizing it when everything is in some places in scene. This way I get the “mood” of the image in place first and final touches after that. Next there will be some update image.

The turtle model is now in this shape. I will be adding other stuff next and will return to this when more stuff is in place.

Now I made rockets and attached those to the back of the turtle.

For a long time I had some time to do some small adjustments to models. Materials needs quite much work still and some small additions needed also.

Made some material and lightning changes. Also some small detailing. Blender was having some stability issues and I had to do some changes multiple times, because of crashes.

Hi Sami,

Looking good man!:)…your using blender?..ouch man! I have had a handful of difficulties with it as well the last time I use it, sorry to hear that…:scream:Anyway best of luck with this one!
