Latest Update: Concept Sketch or 3D pre-visualization: Human Creator 2

First of all, I’m scared. It’s my first time entering CGtalk’s contest, but I wanted to challenge myself even further and I knew it was the only way.
Now to the point, my very first sketch of strange behaviour concept. Inside my head, I had an idea of a person being in space suit, afraid of what we take for granted while other people hang around comforably. I wanted to give it a sense of cold feeling, but yet ironic. I’m not satisfied with this one so I’ll do more concepts in different scenio.
Second concept. I think I like this one way better! It is in a forest sceneio with a space suit dude who seems cold and distant from the nature while the kid is running around, enjoying the nature.
I’m not sure if ironic expression is good enough, I want it to show the meaning behind the strange behaviour idea.
Is it a solid, clear concept? I’m not sure. Is it enough for strange behavior? To me yes, but for you?
Other concept.
Instead of usual human creating a living puppet, the role is reversed. Humans are being created by a wooden puppet. What if our God is merely a wooden puppet? That’d be a strange behaviour!
The last one is an interesting idea, but I don’t think it works the way you have it there. At first glance it looks like someone about to murder a child hostage.
I think you have to think up a way that the wooden creator would create a human. He’s not going to be carving us out of anything, so the axe idea doesn’t really work. You need some sort of interesting concept as to how these humans are put together and then work from that.
And just one more thing to be picky about, I don’t know if I would have a wooden man living in a wooden home (don’t know if thats what is is at this point) or using a wood burning stove.
Thats a good point. I think is a nice idea but difficult to express. Perhaps a wooden people using flesh to construct… mmmm … but it’s a darker turn
I´m thinking… (this is a gain for me…
) You could oppose fire and wood …or make them friends!!
. that is serious stranger!!
I like the concept - and the concept drawing is nicely done.
For me the concept does not seem to be getting through - IMHO the current visualisation looks like some nasty guy whacking some poor kid over the head - just my interpetation
Good luck with this challenge! ![]()

You’re right, I didn’t really think of how that wooden puppet would feel having all burning woods around him. What I can think of so far is that I could make a medical setting and use an artifical lighting instead. No wood harm done.
Although, instead of an axe, I can’t think of how to “pull” fresh together without making it too “gross” for fainted-heart audience. I want it to convert powerful feeling without people freaking out on the blood or so. I’m sure there are some blood allowed, but I don’t want it to strike people as violence, but a nice mellow feeling like you get when watching a human building a wooden puppet out of his love. So that’s where I’m stuck with my current concept. Any suggestions? (anybody can help too of course) Thanks
Yes, indeed. It is a darker turn. I have expressed where I’m stuck at the moment in earlier reply to killer-instinct93. I would like to hear your ideas on that too. Wood and fire concept is a nice idea!
If you want, you can use that concept for yourself… it’s your idea in the first place.
Fire and wood as friends, that’d be a challenge to paint.
Indeed. It’s always good to have other people look at my artwork and tell me what they see because as a painter, I’m often blinded by my own color scheme and rendering theories that I am often never aware of my own story, and what my art is converting to. I never look at my art in depth (mind you, it’s my first concept art outside of my art classes so the challenge is a good learning experience for me! ;)) I’ll see what I can do to make it more clear and obvious instead of a murdereous scene.
Same concept. What if our God is merely a wooden puppet? He’s the one who made us, humans. Why? You never would know because it is a strange behaviour.
Redid the concept in a better setting based on people’s suggestions. Hopefully, it’s going in a better direction.
Nice work here, I think the whole thing will become more clear once you have the wood grain texture on the surgeon. Perhaps if there were another nurse/doctor in the scene to the left that would help the composition, then you could move the human to the centre and the light directly above him. Then you have a cross composition which fits in nicely with the religious theme with the Son on the bottom, Holy Ghost being the light at the top and Mary and God either side? It’s a bit deep and very Christian in religion but it could work very nicely. Just thought ![]()
