my second base reference image
Strange Behavior (Illustration) Entry: Lincoln Renall
my third base reference image…
next phase is to formulate my image composition more…hope to have an update soon
Your concept has a very classical feel to it, I am very interested in how the final will turn out, I am definitely watching!
well, after much thought i have decided to go with something a bit different than originally planned, My concept is a bunch of demons and angels playing twister and spin the bottle…that sort of thing
Hope to set the scene in a kind of post apocalyptic junkyard or similar
heres a few pics of my initial base rough sketches…
new concept sketches…twister and spin the bottle concept…trying to do all my base image concept roughs in pencil this time, prior to taking them into painter/photoshop
just another base sketch here…still working om the idea of demons angels at a post armageddon kegger
toying with the idea of some aerial components as well here…
fully welcome any crits / suggestions etc…

I love the twister-and-classical-components combo. I think you could try and look at the doni tondo (michelangelo) for ideas, this is sort of like that, composition wise.
Keep up the good work! ![]()
cheers paperclip…yeah, thats kinda what im hoping to end up with…something with a slight classical feel, but a twisted feel to it (no pun intended :-))
heres an updated image…extremely rough at this point, playing about with the idea of a shoadowy figure in the doorway, light going from horizon to foreground, and some deacy into the foreground…kinda like the scene gets more hellish in the foreground…a mixing of heaven and hell, in both scene and characters…hopefully
Messenging abut with idea of a burnt out church with charred timbers and partially collapsed walls.
fully welcome any suggestions…like i said…very very rough right now…searching for my final composition still.
also still need a lot of work on the carachters, and where the are looking that sort of thing…

just an updated image here:
have just started to compose some of my sketches, and work on the composition. Am trying to use the method of J.P.Targette from a Gnomon DVD. working purely in value for now, till Im 80% happy with it, then hope to add some nice hellish glow coming up through the floorboards, lots of sunlight streaming through the burnt out church…that sort of thing…welcome any crits comments suggestions…was not liking the flat persective much myself, until the roof beams were added, i think they might play nicely against the sky.
may add more composition to one side, so the central roof beam is not dead-centre frame too.
characters still need a lot of work, but its coming along slowly

Nice sketches. Nice classical approach. And I liked your idea of a demon dancing with an angel, I hope that you can give an opportunity

just an updated image…still messing about with values and composition
cheers ferx…yeah , i was originally hoping to put the demon/angel dancing in the background…but i think the composition is getting too busy already…
also think it may be a bit confusing to the eye right now…a bit too bottom heavy maybe?
contemplating adding a hell layer below to floorboards, to balance it out.
only just started refining some character stuff

always apprecaiate any suggestions
heres where im up to…still working on the tonal stuff, struggled a bit with the composition, as it was getting quite crowded, and found it hard to lead the eye through the painting…
welcome any crits suggestions…nearing stage where i might start adding colors
first of four images…will try and add some closeups next
finally the lower section…where the demon is coming up through the floor to join the party
i think this part will look cool with some nice flame glow etc, coming upwards, to balance out the sky glow
still a bit of tidy up to do on the anatomy…welcome any ideas…cheers
Great light values! It’s so deep, oh! and the one at the door… just creepy!
If i can say anything is that maybe the front demon could have some sort of long horns or wings so he would look more imposing, i don’t know…
Nice Piece, see you around!!![]()
P.D: hey!! that’s the cheeky little angel everyone has on their cellphone screen! nice touch:twisted:
cheers steevie
kinda wishing i had choosen a smaller subject…so much detailing to do, so little time.
must say, i love your piece…its probably one of my favourites at the moment, much respect for anyone able to draw hair well, let alone a hairy beast, and a cool chick
cant wait to see the finished art…keep it up man
