Taken a couple of days off to reacquaint myself with Metroid Prime… Back to work now! This is a textured shield for the Viking ship the kittens’ll be leaping out of.

Textures are all hand-painted/otherwise finagled in Photoshop.

To Doug, Breadwig, and KingJai, thank you :slight_smile: I hope I’ll live up to expectations!

Hi Chris,
I like the texture you give to your shield, maybe what I will suggest its that looks to new, and since its has to look more Viking add some corrosion to the materials or broken pieces here and there
other than that I haven’t got any luck in knowing what else to do with normal maps with out “mud box or z-brush” sorry I will keep asking:)

I should probably clarify at this point that this isn’t the first time I’ve trotted out the Viking Kittens. This entry is based on a little mini-comic I did back in my freshman year, when I was mulling over the possibility of a Sequential minor. The concept is just such a sheer joy to play with that, in this Strange Behavior challenge, I couldn’t resist bringing it in for Round II.

This is a part of the cover from that comic; I’m using it as the basis for what the dragonship is going to look like.

The dragon its already looking fantastic that design really sell the Celtic style perfectly

Well cant really suggest anything so far but keep up twigging those models, and have a good reference for textures, a good example of easy 3 textured could be, Disney’s Atlantis they have some nice reference in that style that might be close to some of your models

Still working on the textures; this part of the process isn’t really my strong suit…

Anyway, y’all might have noticed that I missed about a week. I really am sorry about that, and even sorrier that I don’t have a heckuva lot to show for it. I’m not sorry at all in my reason though – I spent that time chasing down a freelance job, and I’m glad to say I got it! :slight_smile: I’m so excited; I can’t wait to start work. Unfortunately, it’s going to keep me tied up all through mid-to-late September, working roughly 10 hours a day. It’ll remain to be seen whether I’ll have time or energy to work on this as well :frowning: If I’ve got the tenacity, great, y’all will still see me. If not, I’ll see you once the job’s done!

like your bike kitties sketch!! but yes i have to agree with everyone here, the viking idea is pretty awesome, cant wait to see it :bounce: did you consider making your cats stand on two feet? not like thunder cats, more like puss in shrek2 n 3 . maybe that would look even cooler. anyway i like what youve got so far :slight_smile:

maybe instead of the vikats invading a human village, you can have them invade a village of dogs or rats? :slight_smile:

I really love how your Viking dragon its coming ,:smiley: it has all the right mood and concept for the Vikings, the texture still need some work on the reasons that should look more old, and maybe some gold leave applications here and there! But besides that the modeling looks great as carving wood material
