Nice one, love the alien sketch! It’s definately strange behaviour! Maybe add a checky little face hugger in there somewhere to complete the set

#7

thanks man  will do!

#8

hehe funny. I had the same idea in my head just in a doom3 szenario from the gun perspective with the flashlight

cool im gonna watch this

#9

Hehehe, great idea. The funniest in my book. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this :applause:

Fun concept, this made me laugh! And even before I read M477’s reply, I was thinking to myself “Chest-burster popping out of the teapot!” You might want to make the chracters pop against the background more -what about some light coming from an airshaft above the aliens, something blue and a bit foggy, like Cameron used in the 2nd movie. Anyhow, good luck with it!

Vahn: Hey thats a cool idea with the gun prespective  Will have a very strong feeling that u are really there:)

SquishMe: Thanks man

walrus: Glad u liked it  Will take your advice on the lighting. Today i have taken up my old alien collection box, will study all
four movies today, gonna be fun  Thanks for the tip on the 2nd movie, will be looking at the lighting in it.

cheers!

Hey splendid start man! So many cool ideas already.

Must say I`m partial to the Aliens watching TV. But that may be just because I love the color and atmosphere in that one.

Keep it coming!

#15

Thanks man  The problem with the concept is that i dont know how to take it further, got any suggestions?

Maby a combination of a picknick and watching movies?

Well, will probably go for the alien theme. In this sketch i tried a more romantic scene (in contrast with the repulsive background).

I’m not sure with what colorscheme i will go for, have something more blueish in mind. Will also need to do some anatomy studies on the alien. Very difficult to find proper photoreferences of alien because 1) u almost never see the alien in the movies, thats what´s making him scary. 2) they changed creaturedesign in all the alien movies.

Please give me some input on the concept romance with the aliens

thanks

Hi good work!!
You know, your best chance for models are action figures, I never figured out the real shape of a complete alien until i got my Alien Resurection figure. People at toy companies get access to design pieces normal humans hardly have a chance to see, you can google it or go to spawn.com/toys and watch the cool quicktime turnarounds of the figures.
Hope it helps.
Keep the good work!!

smiling aliens make great comedy…

the last one is great, nice atmosphere and composition. coool!^^

Yeah I like this latest idea, bringing the aliens into the foreground makes them the focus (which they should be). In terms of light I would go with walrus’s suggestion of having the light beaming down onto them from a shaft - this could be blue. The fan in the background would be good for this. Perhaps set it up in such a way that there are two air vents - one shining onto the Aliens in the foreground and another (the one in the scene already) onto the characters in the background. Alternatively they could be above the ceiling in the void and the light comes up from fans in the floor? This would also mean you could do away with the candle for a light source as technically the aliens can’t see - but I understand that it is necessary to describe the scene… Maybe a flower in a bud vase instead? They could at least smell that

To put a real spin on things you could have the guys in the background enjoying a glass of wine with the aliens?! Although that might be strange behaviour gone too far

Either way, your concepts are looking very good, keep it coming :wip:

Hey

SteevieWoo: Oh thanks alot for the reference tip! Now i can really figure out the anatomy  I mush say that
the full figure alien från alien resurection looks abit too human (maby that was the point though). I really loved
the lower body anatomy of the alien queen though, maby a combo is in place

And yes, smiling aliens would be funny, will make some facestudies and post them

Thanks for the help!

zweiDee: Thanks man

M477: Glad u liked it with the aliens in the foreground  I had some ideas also to put it through a persons
view (like 1st person shooter) watching the aliens at close distance (som the viewer could relate to the marines).
But on the other hand, putting a human together with the aliens (as u said) would solve that problems (beacause then
the viewer could still relate to the human even though the alien is at extreme foreground).

About the lighting I think you (and walrus) have a good point. Because then I could really justify the lights

  • take away the candle (lightsource i needed to put focus in the middle + making it romantic:) )
I have taken hundreds of screenshots from all the alien movies these days now to study the lighting and architechture.
Will make som compositional studies with the air vents and post them soon. (by the way, the composition in the alien
resurection is insane! so much thought put into it!) never saw it before

Thank u for your input, really helps!

/Alex
