still: Cockroach

#1

Hi everybody,

I wanted to make the most photo-realistic Cockroach wich I could, in my short deadlline, in a week. it will be used in a TV advertising, using refs from pictures and a real cockroach.
I used Electricimage Universe to model and render and shaders from http://www.konkeptoine.com.

Hope you enjoy it.

Nice model. Gives me the chills though, as I imagine it crawling across my desk. Now I’m going to have nightmares tonight. Thanks!!!

I was having this talk with this one dude earlier in the day about how if he brought in an image, said it was CG most of the people would find 15 things wrong with it then he could say it was real.

Alright, wheres the wire frame :stuck_out_tongue:

#4

I’m not sure I buy this. Lets see a wire!

#5

Hi Everybody,

sorry, I was really busy working…
take a look in the wireframe…

Hope you enjoy it.

I’d sure like to see a wire myself, please

Problem with cockroaches is just when u cruch them … make a very irritating and disgusting noise

#7

Thats photoreal allright

#8

You make that ?

The wire PLEASE !

Is very hard to obtain that IN 3D !

#9

Maybe the antennas are a little thick, the rest is amazing. Very good job

#10

Great render, you have achieved the photorealism you wanted.

I have one question, I am not a 3D professional, far from it, but why would somebody hire you for a week to model/texture/render this when they could get a dirty drain, throw a cockroach in it and take a picture. I make simple things all the time in 3d for the fun of it, but wouldn’t it be cheaper for them to do that? Of course I could be totally wrong if the bug has to get up and dance ;).

#11

becouse its for a bugspray and they arnt allowed to kill real animals? dunno, just guessing here.

very very nice btw, it looks like a photo :applause:

#12

Hi everybody,

Thanksssssssssssssss

It’s a 3d cockroach because its the only way to control the acting and timing of this bug.

After i made my post for the wireframe the part that made me think it was a CG piece was the over reflection on the stomach portion of the bug. Ive never seen a bug with such a reflective stomach.

#14

It¡¯s very true. good work~~~
:applause: :applause:

#15

Wow… yes, it does seem a little too reflective, but really it’s hard to complain with that kind of realism… I was waiting for you to call it a photo until I saw the wire.

#16

wooo…the model and the render looks really good there

#17

Yep, Very nice! Well done man!

#18

WOW! no, its not too reflective! Maybe the antennaes are too thick though as someone commented earlier. Other than that -CRUNCH!

Nice work!!:applause:
