Hey there, how about a stereoscopic 3D section?
It’s a new field and support is rare.
Thanks!

Maybe how to integrate a floating window into the camera rig I built.
But I just want a knowledge base in general, where everybody can ask questions about stereoscopy. I am currently planning some videotutorials about S3D and wouldn’t know where to post them.
I already posted my Camera Rig for Cinema 4D at the Cinema 4D section:

I think Stereoscopy deserves and needs a seperate section on cgsociety.
I agree.
also looking for a centralized place where people can post tips to eachother. Like what compositing features to use/avoid. How far to push the screen space offset, etc etc etc.
How about a stereoscopic section now? ^^
There are some discussions rolling:

I also have some interesting themes for the section:

I do some anaglyph rendering (the old red/cyan glasses) but would like to do some polarized rendering (the type used in Avatar) but don’t know how to. I kept several of those Avatar glasses after seeing the movie in a theater.
Has anyone been able to do this type of rendering in a 3D program or in a post processing piece of software?
I’m not interested in doing the shutter glasses 3D because of the cost and limited audience availability. Maybe these new 3D TV’s will catch on but I doubt it.
Copy of my post from the thread “Stereotools in Cinema 4D” :
For a polarized version, you will have to match the specific format of your 3D TV / cinema / monitor / etc… . It really depends on the method your TV uses. But most commonly you will provide your TV with two streams and the TV itself calculates the rest. (There is no special step in post production needed.)
There a three different methods for providing the two streams:
These are the methods I came in touch with, so try and see which one works.
You can also checkout and download the different versions of my student project “BROKEN”:

Maybe saving you some render time and After Effects trouble
best regards and good luck,

YES YES YES. We need a section for stereoscopy!!! A place where everyone can share thoughts and discuss current films or get feedback to own projects etc. Great idea Stefan. There are so many blogs and 3d-websites but no really good forum for qualified or interested artists.
I totally agree. I would like to see a section like that. Even those who are strictly against S3D can’t deny the relevance of this topic.
Here’s my vote for a stereo forum. Many of you will most likely find yourselves involved with stereo projects soon if you haven’t already.
With the growing use of 3D, especially in animated features, I think a dedicated 3D section would be a great addition here!

Yes I vote for a Stereoscopic-Section!! This topic gets more and more important and is more complex than many think. Not only the technical aspects but also the aspect of Storytelling and Framing.
A Stereo-Forum here would be very welcome.
cheers, Holger
Sorry guys, but it’s not going to happen. We already have far too many forums and this is simply way too niche to warrant its own area.
